Magnolia Retreat - Rocky Creek Art Garden

At first they seemed nice, but when we walked into the back in a dark (what seemed to be a garage or something, messy paper work everywhere) we just brushed it off and we regret not looking at the place before paying the remaining money. When she showed us around she pointed out all the faulty appliances that we shouldn't be using, she asked my husband if he was a handyman and how she gets some of her guest to help her 'fix' the place up. Even if my husband is a handyman we are on our anniversary getaway, we came there to relax not work. The handle of the sliding door (which is basically your main entrance) is broken and anyone can break in literally with a ruler, no security at all. When we saw the bathroom she told us that she took 3 light bulbs out and only left us with 1, when we asked why she replied "because guest leave the lights on when they go out". It was so dusty and dirty, when we rocked up the towels were on the oil heater cause they weren't dried and ready for us, the towel rack broke while she was showing us around. The bed sheets didn't look clean nor did they smell clean, we saw some bed bugs on the bed and this put us off straight away. We booked the Deluxe Suite with Spa Bath, there was no balcony or mountain view for us. I believe that as guest we deserve to have a clean, comfortable and secure environment to stay in especially when we are paying $320 a night. We didn't end up staying at any of the 2 nights that we booked, We were so disappointed and outraged so we just went back home. We did call and try to compromise to get half our money back but they didn't return any of our calls or messages Absolutely the worst way to end our anniversary getaway!!!!

From the online pictures and description this place looked warm and inviting. My wife and I were looking to have an enjoyable weekend away. It ended up being a nigh**are. We stayed in the magnolia room. The actuality of the premises was a far cry from what we had anticipated. The place was inadequately heated, poorly light, had a leaking ceiling, the television didn't work, rustic (but not in a good way) and it was too cold to use the very old bath. Early in the evening of the first night we decided to not stay on the second night. We verbally requested a refund for the second night and were informed this was not possible. We followed this up with an email the next morning confirming we would not be staying and reiterating our request. The email was never answered. Don't stay here. Find somewhere else.
