Buffelsdrift Game Lodge

We love it! We will definitely come back again and recommend it to our friends. Good food, clean room, a good place to relax, and get back to nature and animals.

The food was great. The tents are great. In particular looking outside while sitting in the bathtub. :) The service was very good. The bush safari which we had booked in advance had to be cancelled due to muddy roads. Bad weather is of course noone's fault. And customer safety is important. Still, alternative tour options would have been appreciated. The "elephant experience" was good. At the same time we felt as bit rushed as the guides kind of pushed us through the different "positions". Overall, we had a good time at Buffelsdrift!

When we booked we expected our experience to be beyond normal, however it exceeded our wildest imaginations when we participated in a night game drive and to top it of the 1000% (is that even possible) customer service and logistics!!!!!

We booked 3 nights at Buffelsdrift as a bit of luxury in the middle of our 20 night tour of South Africa. The 3 nights dinner bed and breakfast cost almost as much as the other 17 nights accommodation. So we were expecting something special. It definitely wasn’t worth the money and we were disappointed. When you advertise luxury and charge luxury rates you expect something special and everything to be perfect. However, there were enough issues that just made it average. • When we arrived we had to wait 45mins for a gold cart to take us to the tent and had to remind reception 3 times • The safe in the tent was locked so we had to call reception to get them to open it with the master key • The tap in the sink was broken – we reported this but nothing happened • Residents are not given priority over non-residents at dinner – tables are first come first served and it is not possible to reserve a table • The complementary water in the fridge was never replaced when we used it • The turn down service was random – not all electric blankets were turned on each night • Breakfast was pretty basic – we had better in B&Bs costing a quarter of the price of Buffelsdrift • Our 10 year old was told that she could only order from the children’s menu. Our 12 year old was told she couldn’t have a starter as this wasn’t included • One of the luxury features is a big roll top bath in each tent. But there is only enough hot water for a shallow bath. Not ideal for a family of 4 • One night it felt like there was a backup chef – all our steaks were cooked way beyond what we ordered

This was really the best location in South Africa we had.. Nice people, very good restaurant, excellent game drives and the glamping tent was so beautful. We had a great time there.

We spent one day and one night at this lovely location, but overall it was an amazing experience. The tents are beautiful, the closeness of nature and the animals were fantastic! Took part in a 2 hours long safari where our guide was super nice and payed a lot of attention to us and the animals. Thank you!

Excellent accommodation, it is unbelievable to stay so close to the animals. A absolute lovely place!!! Perfect to stay with Kids. To stay in a tent but all in a more then higt standard. All of staff extrem helpfull and friendly. Absolutly clean and save.

From the entrance gate ..to reception …to the restaurant ..and everyone working at this lodge ..they make you feel special and welcomed At the restaurant, The chef's expertise really shines through in every dish. It's clear that a lot of skill and passion goes into the food here! Delicious! The service at the restaurant whether it was for breakfast lunch or dinner was exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff! Lovely accommodation Nice afternoon Safari ….and meeting the Elephants ..no words can describe this amazing experience! My biggest thanks to all the staff for a memorable stay with you. We had a two days stay at Buffelsdrift Lodge. Food, accommodation and service were excellent. The best experiences were the cheetah walk and the elephant encounter. To summarize: everything was just perfect!
