The Roslyn Guest House

A very comfortable guest house.The hosts were warm and welcoming and very friendly. Clean and tidy room and comfortable beds with the added bonus of a on suit toilet and shower that were also clean and tidy,plenty of tea and coffee in the room and a fridge to use if needed.Breakfast was delicious,we had the full English but was also cereals,fruit and yogurt to help your self to as well as toast and juice. Definitely be back

Friendly welcoming guest house - could not fault the lovely hot shower and the comfy bed. However I did not get my room cleaned after my first night - no bin emptied or cup etc washed. Bin was emptied after the second night but still no clean cup. Breakfast was a bit late for me but that was just my preference.

A very clean and comfortable guest house, the keycode entry worked well (unlike some I have been to). The rooms were adequate for a few days, with ensuite, which to me is a must. The price was extremely fair. The fresh cooked breakfast was good and Cliff was very accomodating if you wanted say for instance a toasted bacon sandwhich, which was not on the menu, he was a one man band in the morning and coped well. There was even heating on the morning which was handy for drying the towels. The location was good depending on your walking speed possibly 12 to 30 minutes into town. Also about 5 to 10 minutes to the bus stops for either Torquay/Newton Abbot or Brixham the other way, £2 single fare very good value for money. A nice pub just down the road served a great Sunday lunch all in a great couple of days.

Our comments on our stay are: * The young lady who seems to run the Guest House was delightful. * Breakfast was excellent * The building needs some tlc * Sleep quality was poor * Parking was challenging courtesy of Torbay Council * We have dogs but the dogs in the Guest House were too influential on our stay.

Lovely comfortable bed, Maureen was such an amazing host, lovely breakfast and our 2 little dogs had a great time definitely 5*, our room was really clean and comfortable we were given a jug of fresh milk which was really nice and definitely a bonus having a fridge in the room highly recommended.

I would recommend staying at the Roslyn, the owner was extremely welcoming and the breakfast was great. We were only there for a couple of nights, the proximity to the beach and town was perfect. On the whole a great place to stay and very affordable.

- Proprietor didn't even expect us when we arrived. Forgotten who we were, extremely disorganised. - Placed in the 'family room' upstairs, which contained 2 cots, 2 bunk beds and a load of personal items. Felt like we had been thrust in there at the last minute. - Window was broken. Could not be locked. When I Brough this to management, they couldn't find the key, and fastened it with security bands (see photos) - Window broken (Health and safety /Fire safety violation) - 5 Dogs running around the food preperation area. Unsanitary and unclean conditions. - Entire hotel stank of cigarette smoke. - Toilet was disgusting, covered in human faeces. Clearly not been cleaned. Almost refused to pay. Extremely unhappy to pay £198 for our three day stay. Will not be staying here again.

Just spent 5 days at the Roslyn and would recommend it. Breakfast was always hot and varied choice available. Rooms very clean and bed comfortable. Situated just off of the seafront, with a lovely park nearby. Mo was also very welcoming and helpfull. Will definitely be returning.
