Just returned from a brilliant, relaxing family holiday. My family and I stayed in 4-6 berth mobile homes which were a godsend in the middle of a heatwave as they have air conditioning. The mobile home was fantastic, modern and clean (2 bedrooms, 2 shower rooms, kitchen, living area and the option to turn the sofa into a double bed). Arrived to complementary wine, a full basket of fruit and bottles of water. There are other, cheaper, options on site including beach huts (more like UK glamping) but I’m glad we chose the option we did. The resort package included full board (four buffet style meals a day including drinks. There were numerous menu options each day to satisfy even the fussiest of eaters). Many free activities available throughout the day inc. gym, kayaking, sailing, volleyball, archery, kids club. There are also a number of extra activities that incur an additional charge inc. bike hire, massage, sailing lessons, jet ski inflatable rides. There’s a free inflatable water park area which the youngest children loved and an outdoor bar, entertainment and recreational area. The bar, on-site shop and reception all accepted major debit and credit cards so cash wasn’t required. However many bars, restaurants, shops off the resort are cash only. Something I didn’t consider until asking for the bill at a restaurant and being told, when showing my card, “sorry, only cash” resulting in a slightly embarrassing walk to the nearest ATM. Pine Beach is a large resort with plenty of beach side areas for sunbathing and swimming. It was busy but it never felt crowded. If resorts are your thing it’s perfect however if, like me, you soon crave something different, I’d recommend venturing out of the resort on occasion. The coastal village of Pakostane is a short walk away with many restaurants, beaches, market stalls. At night the village comes alive with busy bars, restaurants and entertainment. Just remember to take cash. Just a little further along the coast in the opposite direction is another popular beach with bars and food vendors. We visited here because the water rides (banana boats, jet skis etc) were significantly cheaper per person than booking the equivalent within the resort. I also managed to visit the city of Zadar which was only a 30 minute bus ride away. Bus fare was relatively cheap €56 return for 8 people. Highly recommend visiting the area if you can (particularly the Old Town). The staff at the resort were always approachable, friendly and polite. Overall a wonderful family holiday and a country that we’d happily return to. The resort was fantastic with the only downside being any additional costs being a little on the high side.
