Fodele Beach Water Park Resort

This is a truly stunning hotel with a beautiful view and a fantastic chilled out vibe. The staff are friendly and attentive. Really good selection of food morning, noon and night, catering for all tastes. They did a Halloween theme buffet when we were there and wow, the effort put in was amazing. The rooms are awesome, large, beautifully decorated, plenty of storage - Easily one, if not, the best room I've stayed in at a holiday resort. I would say that with the hotel being built into a cliff then the slope/stairs up to/down from the upper-level rooms won't be ideal for all but there is a road train and golf buggies that can be used to make it easier. The area is quiet, which I liked as we were there to chill and there is no real need to leave the resort but perhaps it is too quiet for those who like a change of scenery at night. However, there are regular buses to close by towns. Heraklion about 1hr and worth a day trip. All in all - Totally worth the money, it is beautiful and did not disappoint.

Fodele is an amazing place for vacation... It's like being in paradise.. The view is amazing... The food so delicious!!! The staff is so friendly and all the time have a smile in their face... I made and some friends... Such as Emmanouela from the bar, always in a good mood and smiley!!! And vagelis from the towels... Funny and very good with the children!!! Don't forget to mention the spa which I had a great experience.. The place is so lovely!!! See you all next year!!!

Well… I’m sitting here after 8 days into a 10 day holiday and all I can say is this place is excellent. I read the review before leaving the UK and thought…. Hmmm… But… you can ignore most of the negative comments. The hotel is lovely. Room cleaned daily and new fresh towels. Food is incredible. Swimming pools are great. We spend our time down at the Beach Front Pool which is directly outside our 3 person room (spacious and modern - aircon works great too) as we have never had a problem getting a sun bed at any time of day… 10am… 11am… midday etc. Yes the main pool area is much busier but there is a member of staff who clears non occupied sun beds at 10:30am everyday so there’s a top tip to get a sunbed! Beautiful views, water park great, staff all very welcoming and make you feel at home. Big shout out to the day time entertainment team who keep the kids occupied playing games around the pool, aqua aerobics and water polo at 3:30pm daily (except Mondays when they have a well deserved day off!). Another shout out to one of the girls who is Ukrainian that I met today. Lovely girl… always happy! So relax and enjoy this place. It’s a holiday!

We just got back from a weeks holiday at Fodele Beach and overall we had a great stay. Like other reviews I wouldn’t say this is actually a 5 star hotel, there are definitely some strange design choices and things that let the resort down. Pros: - The food is really good. A huge selection and we have 2 small fussy children who always found plenty to eat. Probably the best all inclusive food I’ve had. All you can eat Baklava! - The views are amazing, stunning coast line all around the hotel and the pool and bar area are done to a very high standard. - Convenient access to the beach and plenty of sun loungers down there. Here you can access the beach bar and the beach front pool. - Waterpark is great fun with plenty to do for the kids. Locked until 10:30am so if you get there when it opens you’re pretty much guaranteed a lounger. - We had a room located close to the main hotel which I’d highly recommend, convenient for everything and you can hop on the train to get up to the waterpark easily. I can see it being a pain if you’re in one of the rooms at the top - that’ll be a long slog up the hill in the evening when the train stops running at 6pm! Aircon in the room was good and bathroom nice. - We enjoyed the shows in the evening. A different vibe to the usual all inclusive entertainment and it’s out the way so you could easily avoid it and just chill by the bar. Cons: - Inadequate aircon in the restaurant. It gets very busy at peak times and really hot, especially when the temperature outside is minimum mid 30s. It felt too hot to sit outside for breakfast and lunch as well but ok in the evenings. Expect to wait for specific things, such as the ice cream station! - No sun loungers available by the pools. We managed to get a couple at around 8:30am but any later and you wouldn’t get one, people reserve them and sometimes don’t turn up until midday. - Pools aren’t heated so they’re cold, even when it’s nearly 40 degrees outside! - Queues for the bar can get quite long, I agree with other reviews that for a 5 star hotel there should be table service for drinks especially at meal times. But then it’s also hard to get a table in the evenings if you come out of the restaurant after 8:30pm. - Noisy hotel. If you’re looking for somewhere quiet and peaceful this isn’t the hotel for you. We were also woken up every morning by housekeeping as they shout at each other. They did however provide us with 2 bed guards without us asking when they saw we had 2 small kids so that was really appreciated. - Food selection outside of the main hotel area is extremely limited (I.e at the waterpark and beach) and if you don’t eat meat you will really struggle as every sandwich had ham in it. - The toilets at the waterpark are grim and the beachside pool has a very strong drain smell; also noticed this smell at the amphitheater as well. Not exactly the luxury vibe you’d expect… So quite a lot of cons but all in all we did have a lovely time away, it’s just frustra

Hotel - very nice, I wouldn’t say 5* more like a 4* but still lovely. There is a lot of steps and I was aware of this before going but I didn’t quite realise how many steps however there is carts and a train that you can get on. Rooms - lovely rooms and very comfy beds. Bathroom also really nice and good quality shower however the toilet roll is awful and like sandpaper haha! Floors didn’t seem to be cleaned very well as sand on balcony floor from the day I arrived to the day I left. Only left one bottle of water per day so had to leave a note to ask for more. Bath towels very small, left note to ask for bigger ones which we got but the next day back to smaller ones as the larger ones we had hung up to keep had been taken so had to leave note again. Food - best all inclusive food we have ever had! Drinks also good but would have been nice if cocktails came in cocktail glasses. Main pool - lovely pool and very well maintained however pool beds - if you aren’t there by 7:30am you aren’t getting one!! We gave up in the end and would go to the water park! Water park - brilliant, not much food choice up there but it was fine. Water slides are so much fun and the water park doesn’t open until 10:30 so no early get up just to get a bed. Never had a problem getting a bed at the water park though we was always there for opening time so not sure if there would be a problem getting a bed if you arrived later. On-site shop - lovely staff, very good variety and good prices, noticed the Sun cream to be very expensive in there though so make sure you take plenty. We didn’t really go to the beach so can’t really comment on this. Overall I would recommend this hotel depending what you want from a holiday. I like to have a wander around the hotel to shops etc but this hotel was in the middle of nowhere. If this is what you like then I 100% recommend this hotel, if you like to have a mooch then I would say look elsewhere.

We went to Fodele Beach Hotel in Crete and it was absolutely fabulous. From start to finish it was the perfect holiday. The beach was lovely and it had a brilliant beach bar with fabulous staff who couldn't be more helpful. The day beds were really good and were bookable from the bar staff. The food in the hotel was really good and there was lots of choice every day. The breakfast was very good and had mostly everything anyone would have wanted. There was some evening entertainment which was very nice - some of it was for children and that was fine. The weather was hot and the pools were really good To be honest we could not fault a thing. Before we went we looked at the hotel and saw it was built on a hillside and there looked to be some climbing up hills to get to your room so we sent a message asking if at all possible we could have a room near the bottom and they did accommodate us perfectly. Our room which was a sun room was perfect. They had lots of water slides and a water park at the top of the hill which you could get a little cart to take you to sometimes there's a train but it wasn't working when we were there - but that didn't stop us going up there. There was a nice cafe there which had fruit and sandwiches and drinks. We found the water park really good but the sunbeds were not as readily available as they were on the beach. Having said that we didn't have a problem at all when we were there. I would have no hesitation of recommending this hotel to either couples or families and I would most certainly return there. You have a choice of going to some of their a la carte restaurants and while we were there we went to the italian restaurant and the Greek one ... I would say I probably wouldn't bother if we went again as we didn't find them all that brilliant and preferred the main restaurant - but that is our personal choice. Fantastic Holiday

Wow, just had a fab 5* week at Fodele Beach Resort in Crete. Family of 4 with teenage kids. The location of Fodele bay is stunning and close to Heraklion Airport. The hotel is modern, v well equipped and the resort is spacious enought to never feel overcrowded. Overall brilliant, but specifically: Room - good rooms, not the biggest (we are a tall family) , but super comfy and we had a wet room shower & a balconey. They also moved us no problem to interconnecting rooms. Hotel - excellent - gym, arcade, spa, shops, main buffet restaurant plus a seperate Greek & Italian. At least 4x bars, spaced all the way from the water park at the top to the beach below. Staff - fab - really friendly - lots of them - genuinely cared that guests had a good experience. Food - top draw buffet, loads of choice, always changed menu, something for everyone. End of season Halloween dinner buffet was a sight to behold - so much effort put in (see photo). Water Park - excellent fun, some good rides and kids area. Plus bar and extra (not crowded) pools. Beach - really good sandy beach, private area for hotel. Lots of swimming, pier jumping and eel fishing attempts. Water sports (hotel run - cost extra) also fun, can now tick parasailing from the bucket list! To get the most out of it all you need to be of 'average' activity levels. Lots of steps, the resort is carved out of a hill side. My thanks to all the staff for making it a great week. This was our first trip to Crete. We know there are other good hotels on the island. But we think we could not have made a better choice as Fodele beach hotel was just amazing. We couldn’t fault a thing staff from start to finish of our holiday where superb. A really big thank you to Emmanoyela poolside bar from morning till evening never ever had a smile off her face. Looking forward to another holiday out there. Restaurant food and drinks fantastic.
