Le Stanze del Cardinale

All right, certainly characteristic, yet rather an B and B than a real hotel. Lots of stairs to do, and unfortunately no permanent lobby. You have to call someone when you arrive. Right in the centre and room nice. All in all ok stay, but could be improved.

Accommodation in pavia is not in abundance and we were glad to book this centrally located B&B. It was clean and in an historic building in a lovely central square. Breakfast was pastry and coffee in the nice cafe across the square. The bed was comfortable, sheets of hood quality and the room well appointed with hairdryer, fridge, kettle etc. the view was superb and despite the central location was remarkably quiet. There were some negatives not least the many flights of narrow stairs to reach the room, the convoluted exit requirements. Why not use the main door? The bathroom was poor and in need of maintenance. I noted particularly the cracked shower door. I’m not sure the complexity of the bed adornment adds anything to the room. The rooms are as per the pictures and won’t suit everybody.

Le Stanze di Cardinale is a wonderful place/location to stay while exploring Pavia and the surrounding area. It’s located right in the center of town on the city’s Duomo piazza. Restaurants, sites and the train station are within walking distance. In Pavia you are centrally located to easily take a train to Milan for a day trip or even stretch to Genoa. The only challenge may be parking a car, we use the trains and friends, so I’m not certain. I am sure Paolo could provide information, he is a gracious, welcoming and a helpful host. Our room was spacious, comfortable and always clean. My wife and I come time to time from America to visit friends who live in Pavia and wouldn't consider anywhere else to stay. This is an incredible value for the money. We highly recommend it.

Special place to stay. 14th Century rooms in a narrow little house with views over the rooftops of a quaint and quiet town. Pavia is worth a visit and if you are going to this town I can recommend this accommodation. The gentleman who received us when we arrived from the train was polite and excellent in making us feel welcome and informed. The rooms are old ( of course!) but fitted with all the creature comforts. Breakfast was served in a cafe next door using a coupon issued by the host.

Lovely little hotel right in the centre of Pavia. We had rooms overlooking the square and although it was busy late into the evening, the rooms were quiet. Very unusual building and rooms individual. It was a 14thC tower so stairs up to the rooms were a bit of a challenge for my 85yr old Dad but we loved our stay. Staff were really very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was a few doors down at a cafe, staff again were all lovely. Fab place and lovely visit!

Siamo stati a Pavia solo una notte per partecipare a un evento e abbiamo soggiornato in questa struttura. Posizione ottima, centralissima, con bella vista sul Duomo e sulla piazza. Bellissima anche la struttura: antica e abbastanza curata nei dettagli. Molto apprezzata l'insonorizzazione delle finestre della stanza che hanno garantito un sonno riposante nonostante la "movida" del sabato sera nella piazza sottostante. Una pecca però per chi risiede nel loft: alle prime luci dell'alba devi fare i conti con i rumori fastidiosi e prolungati dei piccioni sul tetto! Altro aspetto da migliorare: la colazione. Il bar convenzionato con la struttura offre davvero poca scelta, anche per una colazione all'italiana. Comunque consigliato, anche se il prezzo non è proprio modico
