My stay at Casa Marambaia, coinciding with New Year's Eve and a special occasion, was approached with high expectations given the property's niche and esteemed reputation. The substantial premium charged during this period set the anticipation for an elevated quality of service and experience. Regrettably, my experience fell short of these expectations. The price increase, almost threefold, seemed unjustified when considering the standard level of service provided. The additional charge for the New Year's Eve dinner was particularly disappointing. Most of the dishes, including what should have been a simple yet satisfying steak, were underwhelming and fell below the quality one might find in an ordinary franchise restaurant. The desserts, too, were a letdown, with a pavlova so disproportionately laden with lemon it resembled a lemon cake. A notable low point was the quality of the beverages. The white wine served would struggle to find a place even in cooking, let alone at a celebratory dinner. The champagne was noticeably cheap, and when I raised concerns about the drink options, the suggestion to pay extra for an alternative felt inappropriate, especially given the context of the event. The decision to forgo traditional fireworks in favor of a live piano performance was an interesting choice. However, the performance, though energetic, was not up to par, detracting from the festive atmosphere. The following day, attempts to revisit a similar dinner menu were declined in favor of trying a supposedly renowned hamburger, which unfortunately was also a disappointment, paling in comparison even to fast-food standards. In conclusion, the experience felt like a significant overpayment for what was offered. The sense of being taken advantage of, particularly during a time meant for celebration, was disheartening. While Casa Marambaia has potential, my experience was a stark contrast to the high-end reputation it seeks to uphold
