AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. We had a booking with a different hostel but unfortunately the dorm was under maintenance, so we were ‘upgraded’ to this hostel. When we arrived at the previous hostel, we discussed the Khao Sok National Park Tour and onward travel by bus from Khao Sok National Park to Phuket. The original hostel advised that we could take a bus from the National Park to Phuket for 300 Baht, and that we could arrange the transfer of our large backpacks from the hostel to the National Park on the second day of the tour, in order that we wouldn’t have to return to Khao Sok Town to pick up the bags etc. Our original hostel said to tell Jungle Huts Resort about this plan. We arrived at Jungle Huts Resort and discussed this with them, and the lady on reception advised there is no bus from Khao Sok National Park to Phuket, and that we would have to book a minivan through them. The minivan was 700 Baht each. It was late in the evening when we checked in so I was concerned I had misunderstood the previous hostel’s information. Thus, we booked the minivan as advised but didn’t pay, as I wanted to research when we checked into our room. We found online there was a bus, and so the next morning I spoke to the woman on reception who was adamant there was no bus, and therefore said there would be no dropping off of our bags to Khao Sok National Park. Of course it’s early in the morning before the tour started, so we had barely any time to try to resolve this, so we had no choice but to accept defeat. We therefore left our bags at the hostel and departed on the tour. While on the tour, we met lots of people who were going straight to Phuket after the tour, via the bus. We were outraged. So, after the tour finished, and we were taken all the way back to Khao Sok Town and to the Jungle Huts Resort, I prepared for battle with the woman. Instantly, she did not want to have a conversation at all, and refused initially once again there was no bus. I insisted there was, and then she changed her tune and started saying “the bus could be full” and “the minivan is more comfy”. She then phoned the minivan company while we were mid conversation and cancelled the minivan, and then had the cheek to demand a cancellation fee of 700 Baht from me! I couldn’t quite believe it, and of course I refused. She then sarcastically told us to leave and to go sort the problem out with our original hostel, and left us to our own devices, despite us needing to be in Phuket that night. Thankfully, we made it to our original hostel and they were horrified at the trea**ent we’d received, and they were able to arrange for us to be taken to the bus stop and catch a different bus to Phuket that day, and yes, for 300 Baht. The lady on reception was a liar and tried to cheat us out of money, and her attitude was horrific. In terms of the room itself we were given, it was also terrible. The Wi-Fi doesn’t work, it’s dirty, the shower barely worked, the bed was uncomfortable, we had a
