Such a lovely hotel. Perfect location, great views of the beach and the staff couldn’t do enough for you. Jan also very kindly posted our sunglasses back to us in England after we realised that we’d left them but the pool ok n the last day.

Great place, next to the beach. Wonderful restaurant, Dreams. The girls working there, housekeeping, are really nice and friendly. Although the bed is really old so you can feel the bed springs. Terrible. I ended up paying for an extra bed and had the beds on top of each other. The swimming pool is nice, but not the cleanest.

Most excellent stay and services provided by managers and staff. Location is prime with quick access to all businesses and other establishments in the prime area of my stay. I highly recommend this hotel for your next destination vacation. My room was cleaned and amenities were replaced immediately. At this location everything is at your fingertips. Excellent A

Stayed at Kamala Dreams for 3 nights in May and upon arrival found check in difficult as staff seemed unsure of what to do. The room was clean and spacious however there was no safe box available in the room and the entry door quite flimsy. Unfortunately the pool was unable to be used as it appeared to have some kind of green moss growing in it , I notified staff but they didn't seem too bothered. We had breakfast included in our booking but again there seemed to be some confusion and the restaurant was dark and uninviting so we only had breakfast the one morning and choices were very basic. This hotel definitely needs some TLC .

Stayed for 1 night, New Year’s Eve, to be close to all the action on the beach. Booked late and got the last room in the house, which was actually very good, large room with huge bed, tv with loads of English channels. A fridge and small kitchen and good sized bathroom. Hotel right on the beach. Very nice helpful owner, all very good. Breakfast was delicious and well cooked, and all included in the price. A very clean and nice smelling room. Would recommend and stay again.

I stayed at Kamala Dreams for two weeks at the end of April and the start of May. It is low season, so there were very few guests at the hotel. I chose Kamala Beach over the other locations because many commenters noted it is a family beach. There were correct that many young couples with babies and strollers roamed the small beach walkway in front of the shops and restaurants. There are a couple of bars, but they are low-key. Kamala also has some surfing. There were a couple of days when a storm came through, and folks were renting boards to surf with the locals. There are two open-air food courts with authentic Thai food at excellent prices. One is right down from Kamala Dreams. Walk out the back of the hotel to the right hugging the orange dive shop building wall to the parking lot with all the tents where the cooks do their magic. The second food court is just off the beach, 50 meters further down the beach from the white Tsunami Warning tower. Likes: -The room was large with a desk area, cabinets, a lounger chair, and a king-size bed. The sheets were reasonable quality with no stains, and the pillows were firm and full. -The A/C worked well. -Small kitchen area with sink, fridge, microwave, and electric kettle. -The glass doors out to the porch are tinted with privacy glass. -The porch is terrific for hanging out by the pool if you are on the first floor. -The bathroom is fine with a water heating unit. -The wifi worked well. -The breakfast included several choices, with the banana pancake leading the way. :) Not So Great: I assumed that the hotel being on the beach would mean they would have their own umbrellas and beach chairs. This is NOT the case for any of the hotels on Kamala Beach. There are sections of the beach with umbrellas and chairs that you can rent. They don't seem to be connected to any of the hotels. The bottom line is that Kamala Dreams is a three-star hotel not at the developed end of the beach, so no one seemingly cleans the beach or has shops or activities. As others point out in these reviews, you walk out the back of Kamala Dreams, turn right, and cross the small bridge over the drainage canal to access the clean beach, umbrellas/loungers for rent, other hotels, food stalls, etc. The drainage canal is polluted, so you want to avoid entering the sea near the hotel. Walk down the beach to umbrella areas to do your swimming. The cleanest part of the beach is down where the Novotel and the InterContinental are. And as nice as these hotels are, they do not have beach chairs or umbrellas either. Final Thoughts: Jan, the manager, was out of the country during my stay. However, I reached out to her because of problems with the pool. She immediately had a crew out to make repairs over a couple of days. Thanks, Jan! Checked out within an hour of checking in. Had booked for 3 nights. Not at all like internet photos. Confusing restaurant entrance - tired and shabby looking. No pride at all on how things look. Room absolutely stank - essence of pitch blank drainage klong nearby. Room - curtain torn and terrace tatty, not clean and unusable due klong stench. Tatty, unkept beachfront area blocked with shabby shade cloth. Nothing about it appealed. Staff indifferent at best. One said “ ehhh” when we asked for the manager. The other looked slightly surprised when said we were leaving. Advised us it was an “outside problem” and not to open doors. So much for a terrace then. Bea Judging by reviews which we unfortunately only read after leaving, the owner doesn’t quite accept that there are problems with the place. Seems the same problems exist from as far back as 2015 or before.

It is a small family run hotel. Entrance of the hotel is bit shady with no proper lobby or check-in desk. You have to walk past the restaurant to go to your room. But rooms are spacious and all have either sea and pool view. Room size is decent and all the required amenities (hairdryer, fridge, shampoo/soap only, no toothbrush) are available in the room including microwave and small pantry with was basin (which was very very useful) and good aircon. The hotel has direct access to beach but this side of beach is little dirty and you may have to walk about 10 min to get to happening side of beach. Breakfast is very average and you can choose from 3 set menus only. Quantity is little less. There is cute ginger Cat (Taan) which will give you company in your breakfast which was huge bonus for me! Food of the restaurant is also good. Bathroom was also good with nice shower pressure and there was automatic electric geyser in room.

Very sweet staff who is kind to animals and that’s a big plus! The restaurant serves good food, but somehow it needs some cozy lighting and good music thus more people come and eat there in the evening instead of choosing the restaurant on the other side. It’s a lovely hotel for sure! Thanks for your kindness.
