Sandos Papagayo

An enjoyable week here in good weather. Plenty of stairs to keep the legs active and only a 30 minute walk to the Marina Market and other shops. Not much further on is the town centre and if you've done enough walking a taxi back was less than €6. The hotel is well laid out and no shortage of sunbeds around the various pools. Food was well varied and although I would have preferred to eat off hot plates, all was ok. The Mexican and Oriental meals were a nice change from eating in the main restaurant. Entertainment was limited but satisfactory. Would we go back? Wife says yes, but I'm not so sure. Altogether a lovely break.

Perfect from start to finish .. hotel is amazing staff 100% go out there way to make sure your every need is catered for .. rooms are just stunning we payed for royal elite so we had added extras executive lounges and elite reaturant .. the lounges are fully equipped with branded drinks self service and snacks.. the roof top terrace is wonderfull views and the area so relaxed and chilled ... entertainment was great some lovely bands and singers on each night .. the pools are also very good some heated never struggled for sun lounges I. It was my first time in lanzarote and defo won't be my last this hotel really will be hard to beat . Thanks for a drilling stay

Literally no complaints with this really lovely hotel. Friendly staff, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, lovely rooms, great facilities, tasty food, premium spirits, 24 hour all inclusive. We arrived late on Friday 23rd February for a long weekend (yes you read right) of sun as part of the celebrations for my girlfriend's birthday. We arrived hungry and thirsty so it was a pleasant surprise to learn food and drink are available 24 hours a day - at this time of night (just after 10pm) food was from the snack bar but there was quite a range of savoury food and desserts. We also enjoyed a couple of drinks at the bar where they do the entertainment - Ballentines whisky and Torres brandy on this occasion but all drinks we had, whilst at the hotel, were high quality. We had a Superior Room in E Block which overlooked the sea. The room was spacious, had tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with lots of channels including BBC and ITV, a fridge, wardrobe, air conditioning, safe, a large balcony with table and chairs too. The bathroom was large too with toiletries provided, a hairdryer, it had a corner bath and separate shower, toilet and bidet. The hotel has 4 pools including one for adults only (which also has a jacuzzi), it has a spa, children's club and an on site doctor every day. Unfortunately we weren't there long enough to experience what the spa had to offer. Transfer to the hotel from Arecife Airport takes about an hour and a quarter but it's worth it. You drive through Puerto del Carmen before you get to Playa Blanca. Puerto del Carmen seems a lot more built up which might appeal to a younger demographic. We preferred the less developed resort of Playa Blanca with its rugged coastline, beautiful beaches and the vibrant Rubicon Marina - all within walking distance of the hotel. We walked to the marina on the Saturday and there was a great craft market there as well as some lovely restaurants and cafes. The only downside we experienced was having to come home so soon. We will definitely go back to the Sandos Papa***o - there's nothing not to like.

We came on a family holiday with older children(17&19) and overall had a lovely stay. Pros- clean& spacious rooms, was upgraded to sea view on arrival, all areas on hotel were clean, lots of toilets and places to get drinks, friendly staff (aqua fit and crazy games team were very good), breakfast selection was nice, plenty of pools to pick from, lots of activities/entertainment thoughout the day. Close proximity to beach and 30 minutes walk to marina. Tex-mex &asian night is a must! Cons- found tea and lunch selection very average and bland but very little choice for little children, evening entertainment aimed at older generations and not much for late teens, spa was disappointing as half of it wasn’t open and we had specifically booked for this feature, could be more lenient with the ‘adult’ rules as our 17y/o wasn’t allowed with us to adult only areas or spa(after special hours) meaning we couldn’t experience it although paying for 4 adults. On the whole the hotel complex is great and would recommend!

Here just now for her second time, with my family this time. I absolutely love it here and can't wait to come back. Food is great, entertainment team and the acts have all been brilliant. The options for where to spend days and evenings are all great to suit everyone and I've enjoyed the drinks from the bar as well. All the staff are really nice, the fusion restaurant was great to visit a couple of times to add even more variety. There's not a place I've ever visited that couldn't make some improvements but they would only be minor quibbles for here.

This is a lovely hotel to stay in with large comfortable rooms and we had a very enjoyable week. The sun shone every day. Everything was very easy and everyone was enjoying themselves. There are lots of different areas to enjoy. The atmosphere is laid back and easy going. There is always plenty of choice in the restaurant with something for everyone. It is easy to get a drink with help yourself stations. We enjoyed the use of the free bus service most days and spent time at the Rubicon marina where there is a market on Saturday. Then a good walk back along the promenade. A beautiful beach is a short walk from the front of hotel car park. We would love to come back and bring the family

We had a lovely holiday, however we thought that we had done our usual research prior booking but were immediately disappointed when we entered our room as it was described as superior. Apparently this is the hotel description not jet2 who we booked with. The rooms are standard, full bathroom, fridge, tea and coffee facilities. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. The hotel is large but they manage well in the bars and restaurants. I am celiac and found most of the catering staff unhelpful due to lack of training. There was some signage on the food descriptions for Gluten free but to eat in the Italian, Asian or Mexican restaurants I had to fill in a form and hand it in the day before which did not work well at all. I bought a loaf of bread from the supermarket around the corner to help with breakfast and lunch.

Had a very pleasant 10 night holiday, travelled to celebrate my upcoming 60th birthday .Cava left in fridge . Check in a tad slow and just caught the restaurant for evening meal. Room on first inspection was fine, however as the days went by we could see that house keeping was not too thorough, the floors were filthy, needed a good mopping and as our shoes were never moved we wonder if even swept, also our double wash basins were left with toothpaste marks etc. never mind though the service we received in most bars and restaurants was good, we found almost all of the food absolutely lovely and really enjoyed all of our meals, some excellent prawns and smoked salmon dishes, soups however were a let down, needed a good stir in the cauldrons to get ingredients mixed.great bread selection and delicious desserts. Self service beers were often frothy, we take our own larger plastic tankards, and found the red wine most acceptable from the pumps. The measures in the Canary bar were very heavy handed and greatly appreciated .The small shopping centre with hiper dino literally three minutes walk, the coastal path into the marina and centre was pleasant, and the courtesy bus useful. Yes still sunbed wars for umbrellas and prime pool spots, this will not ruin our holidays, we find it quite funny however wish some of those early risers would have consideration for people enjoying their well deserved lie ins by being a bit quieter and not shouting along corridors, likewise on their return to rooms at night time.Glad we had a cardigan for evenings as quite a chill after dark. Honestly we did enjoy the holiday, doubt we will return though as there are many places around the world to explore, however Lanzarote holds a special place in our hearts. Thank you.

We stayed here with our daughter and friends with kids and had an amazing time! The staff are all really nice and friendly but the animation team were incredible- they worked really hard to make sure the kids had a great experience! The mini disco and entertainment in the theatre every night was great and the entertainment at the bottom of the hotel reception was fabulous too - something for everyone! The food was varied and plentiful with something different every day and the fusion restaurant made a nice change with the Mexican and Oriental evenings. The wine on tap from the restaurant is not the best but it make a good spritzer with a bit of fizzy water and ice. The same with the cava at breakfast- add a bit of orange juice for a Buck’s Fizz! The drinks in the Canarian Bar were great with generous measures! The rooms we had were a good size with a sofa bed for the kids, I ended up sleeping in the sofa bed because the main bed was too soft for my back. I found the sofa bed really comfortable and slept very well. We were top floor block H and had a great view of the pools and the sea so got the best of both worlds. My daughter had her birthday while we were away and all the staff made sure she had a great day, she had a present from reception left in her room, the animation team sang happy birthday to her and gave her a cap and a certificate. We were booked into the fusion restaurant for the evening but we weren’t allowed to decorate the table (probably for health and safety?!) but they made sure she had a sash so she could feel special. We walked to the marina and the main beach in Playa Blanca which is a really pleasant stroll and it doesn’t take long, maybe 15 minutes. If you don’t want to walk back there are plenty of taxis and it costs about €5.00. The hotel does have a shuttle bus service twice a day too. One tip I would suggest if you are visiting is to take your own cup such as a Stanley- it’ll keep your drinks cold and you won’t have to keep filling up as the cups around the pool area are paper and not very big!
