Whala!Tenerife - Formerly Marola Portosin

This Hotel is located in a great location on the outskirts of Los christianos, next door to bars and restaurants and right next to a bus stop where you can go to loads of places. It is about a 10 min walk to Los Christiania 0r Playa. Hotel itself is “tired” and could really do with a makeover, HOWEVER, it is spotlessly clean and cleaners do the rooms everyday, replacing towels if requested. The pool area is clean with lots of loungers available. Pool policy is strict, no inflatables, no balls, no food or drink ( unless purchased at the hotel) and no reserving loungers. The hotel plays a selection of music around the pool. Pool bar was good, €2.20 for large beer. We had a one bedroom apartment with hob, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, hairdryer etc. Rooms had large Fans but NO Aircon. It was a bit hot first night but we got used to it. The hotel entrance is on a road which is pretty busy and can be noisy at night if you leave windows open. We closed ours which meant it was quiet but with no Aircon got a little warm. All staff were very friendly We would defiantly consider returning to this hotel

Loved it here, all the staff are brilliant so helpful with anything we needed, my kids loved the pool, bar staff are fantastic make you feel so welcome, we had an amazing holiday and will defo return here. Met some lovely people there too, I wouldn’t listen to bad reviews, it was clean and in middle of everything you need I’d recommend to anyone.

Went as a family of 5 children 6/13/14 warmly welcomed on arrival, the staff there was great bar staff was great, always clean and tidy got us taxis when needed came almost instantly. We all loved the pool and will definitely be going back. lovely local run shop two shops to left. That made my kids have to go in everyday to say hello. Don’t let the bad reviews put you off

I was incredibly worried when I booked this hotel for me & my mum in her late 70's after I had read some of the reviews on here, however how wrong could I have been. We don't expect 5 star at 3 star hotels but it was basic with everything you need and kept exceptionally tidy by a hardworking team. Yes it would benefit greatly from a refurb. We had no issues with noise or sleeping although keep bathroom door shut it seems to block the main road noise. The pool area is lovely & well maintained the small pool is not deep as I'm only 5'2 which is perfect for me. It does accommodate varied age groups some can be quite boisterous around pool, but their having fun n no one was bothering anyone, although some of the younger ones conversations can be quite eye opening but very funny.The bar staff were especially welcoming & I became addicted to the Caesar salad which is to die for, so moreish. It's about a 10- 15 min walk to golden mile n parque las pas strip or about 20 mins to the area around the troya hotel for some of my other haunts for evening entertainment. My mother said she would be happy to return to this hotel so they must be doing something right. Decent budget hotel so that you keep more money for having fun.

Currently here and absolutely love it. We went cheap and cheerful and didn't know what to expect but are sooooo happy, so clean, everything you need. The highlight is the staff at the pool bar, Kat, Tom and the lovely Lucy. They couldn't be more fabulous. Lucy especially is an absolute ray of sunshine she makes my day. Will 100% be back ❤️❤️❤️

We're just back from a weeks stay at whala and was pleasantly surprised. I read the reviews before going and was a little apprehensive . I shouldn't have worried because the place was fantastic. All the staff from the reception, pool bar, cleaners and even the security guard were very welcoming and spoke politely to us. The rooms are a little dated but were spotlessly clean and everything worked as it should. The rest of the hotel areas were also very clean and tidy. There is free wifi in reception in the pool area and our room had 2 ceiling fans which were more than adequate for cooling our room. Yes you do hear some noise at night from other guests but that can happen at any hotel and on a whole it was very quiet. Location wise it's about a 10 minute walk down to the centre of las americas but there are 2 supermarkets, some shops and restaruants within 5 minutes. Will definitely be back again
