My sister and I stayed at Bodhi Tree for 7 nights for a yoga retreat. Our experience was outstanding in every way, and we can't recommend Bodhi Tree highly enough! We stayed in one of the Queen Bungalows (#203), which was a great choice for us. We had a private deck looking out on the jungle, two very comfortable queen beds with mosquito net canopies, a wonderful outdoor shower, and two closets with plenty of storage space. The beds were right next to each other (with about two feet in between them), so this room might not be best for friends who don't want to sleep that close together. We also loved that the room had A/C! It was so nice to be able to retreat from the heat when we wanted to. We loved the location of our room - it was very centrally located, so nothing was too far away, but it wasn't right next to the pool and juice bar area. The property has waterfalls flowing through it that provide great sound buffering and white noise. As others have noted, this is a steep property with lots of ramps and stairs to walk up and down. We liked the extra exercise, but this might be a consideration for those with mobility issues. We had most of our meals at the buffet, and the food was always fresh and healthy, with lots of variety and options. The cocktails made by Alan and Kevin in the bar were outstanding - not too sweet and always made with high-quality ingredients. Rangel did a great job of managing the buffet and made sure everyone's allergies and intolerances were accounted for. Gustavo always made sure we were happy and he exemplified the pura vida attitude that Costa Rica is known for. Every single staff member that we interacted with at Bodhi Tree was friendly and helpful, and the entire place seems to be incredibly well-managed. One of the best parts of our experience was the yoga shalas. They are all wonderful in different ways, and all of them have amazing views, beautiful wood floors, and well-maintained equipment - plenty of Manduka mats and bolsters, cork blocks, straps, and towels were provided. The swimming pool is small but very clean, the water temperature was perfect, and we loved that it was a salt water pool (no chlorine). The pool area did get pretty crowded and it was often hard to find a place to sit. We only had a few negatives, and these aren't necessarily things that can be changed, but might be helpful to know: 1) The beach is a 15 to 20-minute walk away, down a very dusty road (which was muddy if it had rained). It took much longer to get there than we thought it would. The resort provides a free shuttle down to the beach via golf cart, and there are also beach cruiser bikes available, but we didn't feel like there was a quick or easy way to get to the beach. 2) During our visit, we got lots of mosquito bites, despite using picaridin spray. There might be fewer mosquitoes at other times of year, but we were surprised by how many bites we got. 3) This is a very minor detail, but we would have liked to have d
