Caledonian Inn - the Stump

Awful food and over priced accomodation We ordered the chicken schnitzel It was oily and rubbery. Couldn’t eat it. It didn’t have the texture of chicken at all.Generous portions if you could stomach eating it. Worst meal we had on our road trip.

Read reviews on TA and decided to give this place a go. Nice clean, welcoming pub with a nice wine selection and food menu (pub bistro fare, though we didn’t eat). Had a nice rosée sitting in front of the hotel, but there’s also a nice garden area out back. Great setting, fairly quiet from street noise and nice place for families and couples. Staff was friendly, engaging and helpful. Highly recommended.

Oldest licensed Pub in Victoria, the Public Bar is wonderful, friendly staff a real piece of Australian culture. Very good food for a Pub, if a little pricey but quality and well cooked I had a paella but wished I had got a steak after seeing others served! The beer was cold as well can’t go past Carlton Draft on tap.

Great local pub, fantastic warm and friendly staff, good selection of food and beverages, with fantastic live entertainment. Brilliant atmosphere, highly recommend. I had paella and it was a reasonably priced and gener ous portion. Highly recommend.

Wasn't expecting the Hilton, but was expecting the room I paid for, we got down grade, dirty, dusty and broken tiles in bathroom, when I nicely as owner why, she spoke down to me, with no care factor

Absolutely fabulous evening in the restaurant! The meal was way above expectations, the service from Blaine was excellent too! Cannot recommend the Sri Lankan infused dishes enough- they were so delicious! Would revisit in a heartbeat!!

Our room was clean and quiet, but not the room we booked, apparently someone damaged the room the night before, really understand we needed to be rebooked in a different room, but this should of been a upgrade not the down grade we we given, management was rude and degrading and a care factor of none, really disappointed, as wasn't expecting any more then the money we paid, but wasn't expecting to be talked down to, and told what do you expect you only paid $--- very poor management..I was really looking forward to staying in such a old inn with history and character, but with this rude management I would never stay here again..sad as I'm in hospitality and understand customer service, but wow not here..

Great meals reasonably priced. Delicious curry. Huge Parmy Ginger beer on tap was a nice surprise All the staff were friendly Nice atmosphere clean restaurant Busy restaurant glad we booked in advance Would definitely recommend and return.

We were staying at this old pub The Stump the longest licensed hotel in Victoria. It was a must visit for a meal and I wasn’t disappointed. We were greeted by friendly staff PETA and Tegan as we walked through the door and into the past. This quaint old fashioned lounge was a perfect place for a meal. The dinner menu was full of old favourites with a few newer options. We ordered the nasi and mushroom risotto which were both absolutely gorgeous. The prices were all very reasonable and all meals were large. Service was quick the open fire and stone work around the fire made it the perfect place to relax and take in the Port Fairy experience. We would throughly recommend a visit here if you are looking for that good old pub
