Hotel Cocotal

We are very happy we went and we enjoyed our time on Isla Grande. However, it's not all sunshine and pina coladas at Hotel Cocotal. Businesses profit by exploiting the environment, employees, and/or the consumer, or a combination thereof. Businesses should be able to profit but not by unethical or unlawful means. It appears that the owner of Hotel Cocotal mostly gets ahead by taking advantage of his staff. We witnessed staff working from open at 730 AM until close which happens anywhere from 10 PM to 2 AM. That is a ridiculously long day. We had hoped to talk to the owner about what we were observing but he left during the last few days of our stay there. We can only imagine what other abuses the staff endure. We understand that low and withheld pay is a normal practice by the owner. With regard to exploiting the consumer, the hotel rooms were not in great repair which we feel was unjustly blamed on the staff. Profits need to be reinvested in maintenance and it was evident this was not happening in some cases. For example, the lock on our door was about to fall out. Some reviewers commented on the service, but it is important to take into account the culture and work conditions of the hotel, island and country as a whole. We are very grateful to have gotten to experience Isla Grande, the staff and location of Hotel Cocotal and hope conditions improve there. Despite these negative observations we would stay there again. On a side note, we saw more marine life in their swimming area than anywhere else around the island!

We had a great time we have stayed in. A few places on the isla and we are this one to the list th food was great the staff was amazing and great prices ..yes the rooms basic but it out on beach and enjoying your self with site seeing see more reviews jbdegustador

Do not stay here!!! Terrible filthy condition. Arrived at 2:30 pm. Room 11 was ready at 4:30 pm. Inspected room and horrified by stains on sheet and beds - tile floor had just been mopped and was like an ice skating rink with mud remnants. Property was full of trash - everywhere !! Very unsafe condition. Wall outlets were falling off the wall. No towels were supplied in bathroom. We're told they would be delivered later. We told front desk of condition and his reply was - I understand but they refused to give us back our money that had been charged via ***********. We moved to another location.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I've been to a LOT of places. Some great, some not-so-great. This was SO far down on the "absolutely never book here again" list. We had to wait until 4:30 to get our room. once in the room, as soon as we opened the door we were shocked. The whole room was tiled. The floor was extremely wet with mud tracks, there were only two twin beds, no towels, the bedsheets had wet dirt on them and the pillow cases were so stained they looked almost entirely yellow. Our view?? It was overlooking an extremely poor and trash-ridden neighborhood. We didn't dare touch anything never mind put our heads down. We immediately told him we were NOT going to stay here because it was completely mis-represented and disgusting. We are STILL trying to get our money back even though we never stayed there. We wound up grabbing our bags, walking down the street and found a pristine new hotel that even wound up being less money. Amazing room, fantastic customer service, beautiful pool, breakfast etc. Candy Rose Hotel deserves a metal for saving our vacation.

Es un "hotel" que es un edificio viejo pintado por encima, las habitaciones no tienen nada que ver con las imágenes, las camas se rompen, todo sucio, lleno de bichos y abujeros por las paredes. El baño horrible pequeño sucio y con mal olor. Especificamente las habitaciones dotan de dos camas mal sujetas ya que se aguantan con dos tornillos en una esquina y dos en la opuesta, lo que hace que si te mueves por la noche corres el riesgo de que se rompa y se caiga. Las comidas tardan 1-2h en traerlas, la "piscina privada" es un cacho de mar delimitado con unos plsticos flotando. Adjuntare fotos para que vean el timo que es el establecimiento, no deberia ni valer 10$ el dormir aqui.

Premetto che non ho soggiornato qui ma quando ho prenotato ero indecisa tra questi hotel e un altro quindi una volta sull'isola sono andata a dare un'occhiata. Ha davvero un aspetto terribile, le finestre aperte delle camere al piano terra lasciano vedere l'interno delle stanze che fa venire i brividi. Piccole e anguste. Sull'isola ci sono diverse possibilità per dormire in ostelli o in cabanas a basso prezzo, il problema del cocotal è che si spaccia per hotel ed è molto costoso - sui 150 dollari a notte- ma non è di certo all'altezza

L’accueil est très sympathique et le personnel très avenant. Il est fort dommage que dans ce paysage paradisiaque, il n’y ait pas plus d’effort sur la qualité des installations. Tout est bricolé et c’est très dommage. Les différences de prix sont parfois troublantes d’un établissement à un autre. Faire payer le prix fort aux touristes ne va pas les faire revenir.
