The Hotel Fitzgerald

4* for the helpful, easy and genuine approach of the staff and the location which is in a quiet street about 15min to the very centre. The hotel overall looked smart but there were some issues with my room initially (not fully clean and some unpleasant tobacco/drain smells). The gym also really needs some TLC I'm afraid. The style of the hotel is adult and sophisticated so was a little disappointing experiencing these issues in a hotel that generally fits in well for a good price.

A nice hotel in a very quiet road with excellent public transport links very close by. This location is perfect for anyone who wants to be just outside the tourist centre of this superb city. The room had a wonderfully comfortable bed and plenty of storage space. A kettle would have been nice but I was aware none is provided and so took my own. The shower head was too narrow and didn't give a large spray area of water but there was plenty of hot water. Breakfast was ok by Prague standards but I felt that the coffee machine was not up to the job, it may just need an adjustment of settings. Coffee was too weak for me and I don't particularly like strong coffee. All staff were extremely friendly and I felt they wanted their guests to have a pleasant stay. Overall a good stay and I would return, purely because of the positive attitude of the hotel staff.

Recently recently had an amazing lunch at this chic establishment in Carline well worth the visit. Food was fantastic atmosphere was great and Honza the breakfast kid was fantastic. I would repeat this anytime. The environment was first class the whole way.

* My room on the top floor had windows in the angled roof. Which meant that one had to be at least 1.80m to open/close (I'm 183, phew!) and no real view. * I asked and got a room with both a double bed and a bath-tub (which is very nice when in Prague, I walk a lot during the day) * I counted 4 large mirrors in the room, 2 full length in front of the bed. I'm not a big fan of seeing my middle aged everywhere when I walk around in my underwear. * The breakfast was tasty, but very limited in selection, only one egg dish (scrambled eggs) * Comfy bed with proper duvet. * I like the location a lot, lots of great places to eat in the neighbourhood. A tip: When walking/cycling to Charles Bridge, find the direction down to and follow the river. Much nicer than walking in the middle of the town.

The hotel is not in the center (it's a 30 minute walk from the old town) but it is only a 10 minute walk to metro line C. The staff was quick to respond to all kinds of questions regarding reaching the hotel. The room was nice (we particularly liked having a split AC unit in the room). Breakfast (7-10 am) was good but we needed to get there early as offerings were not replenished when finished.

We stayed for 5 nights and were very pleased. The staff was welcoming, very friendly and all spoke English well. The location in the charming neighborhood of Karlin was great - near enough the center of Prague to walk but not at all touristy or crowded. Prague has excellent trams and the tram stop was only a block from the hotel. Also after 12 nights in hotels in Switzerland and Munich with no AC, it was a pleasure to have AC in our room. Highly recommend.
