Bahia Principe Sunlight San Felipe

We stayed in a junior suite (three of us me and my teenage girls). The sofa bed wasn’t the most comfortable but was huge (they commandeered the big bed). We had a huge balcony with a sea view. We were on the first/mezzanine floor, I think I’d ask for a higher floor for even better views and to be away from the noise from the bar another time but not ever needing to use the lifts was a bonus for my lift phobic daughter. The room was so clean. The whole hotel is clean tidy and well maintained. We have had a lovely relaxing week here The Bahia Principe San Felipe is a lovely hotel, very comfortable , great staff. Excellent breakfasts, the pancakes are amazing. Lunch/dinner were very good for an all inclusive international hotel (though desserts universally entirely missable this is my only gripe about food, why oh why was it jelly every night. And there was a lot of tinned fruit and very little fresh fruit ) The communal area around the pools is lovely. Fantastic service from reception and all other staff. Special mention to the two young people organising all the activities. The Pilates class was especially enjoyable as was the evening deep stretch. (If only the times for the classes were better advertised) The gym is small but well equipped I used it once this week. We have loved pottering into Puerto de la Cruz to shop, soak up a**osphere and eat ice cream. It’s so close and so easy. We went to Loro Parque and to the Botanical Gardens but have generally chilled and done very little.

The hotel was very clean. You couldn't fault the housekeepers at all the rooms, and public areas were very clean. We were a group of 7, and while staying and eating there, 4 of us became very ill with sickness and diarrhoea I spent 2 days in my room and felt I got very little help from the hotel even though I had told them I was being sick very badly they did bring water and towels once but didn't check in on me. The food was okay, but after being Ill I was too scared to eat, so I definitely didn't get what I paid for. Speaking to another family and a couple staying at the hotel, they had suffered too. So this definitely is a hotel issue. There is nothing for children to do here. The children's club was closed, and nothing was allowed in the pools for children to play with. The hotel is in a good location, but transfer time took way too long. Sorry, but I would not return to this hotel. But on a positive they do make you feel very special if its your birthday.

This hotel deserves for tree star MAX. Old fashioned building with cracks on floors and walls. Loose and broken tiles are normal there. I got cut on my toe on swimming pool!! I went to reception for help blooding everywhere and nobody helped me! Receptionist just passed me first aid kit saying I can use whatever I need. No interest at all. I had to look after myself without glasses. Toe was blooding so strong that I wasn't able to put any plaster on. So prepare your self that if something will happen wrong you won't get any help... Bathroom is a joke. Tube has no white paint on it and comes black what looks filthy. Loose tiles. Toilet that is not screwed to the floor and moving with you. Carpets on hallways dirty like never cleaned. All sofas in room or in front of the elevators dirty to black stains in some places. I was afraid to take a sit on sofa in our room - see pictures. Even floor in elevators were cracked! Beds? Forget about one king size or double bed. You will get two single beds joined together and sliding away with gap between them. Nigh**are. This hotel is max 3 star hotel and DO NOT EXPECT 4 star standards. It looks like waiting for full renovation. The worst hotel I have ever been on Canary Island ever! Late life in hotel? Everynight bingo or terrible covers signing by low budget "artists". For 9 nights they made only two nice shows - traditional dancing show and circus. Stuff was 50/50. Some very nice and some ***holes. Food was good and I'm not able to say anything bad about it. Would I recommend this hotel? No at all. Ahh yeah. Prepare yourself for never ending queuing to elevators. Everyday we were going downstairs from 9 floor to avoid it. 5min waiting for elevator to see its full :O Similar fashion you will be queuing for dinner everyday.

I have given this hotel three stars and that’s being generous, I am a keen traveller and this hotel is very poor in customer service, the food was not great at all compared to many I have been to I would rate the food a two star, it’s in a good location close to bars and restaurants and I had a sea view. The cleaner was lovely but the restaurant team had very poor customer service. The beds are comfy but not the pillows, luckily I had bought one of my own. I would not recommend this hotel to others mainly due to its poor food and service.

Location very good. The food was great: tasty and varied. Rooms very worn, no upper floors with unpleasant smell. The service at the reception was unpleasant. I've been to Bahia Principe in Mexico, but it's a much nicer hotel than San Felipe. I will not return to this hotel.

We felt we were taking a bit of a risk when we booked this hotel having read some of the reviews. We were delighted to find a friendly, well run, comfortable and clean hotel with incredibly high standards of service. We had a pool facing room which had been recently painted. The beds were comfy and the cleaning staff visited every day and left our room beautifully pristine. The bathroom could do with an upgrade soon but everything that we needed worked well and was in good order. The buffet restaurant had lots of choice and was great quality. A huge range of fresh fruit, salads, meats and fish.The staff there were attentive each time we visited. The a la carte restaurants were truly special. The service was as good as it gets and the menu was superb. The evening entertainment was mixed, we really enjoyed some evenings and not others but recognised that this hotel caters for a wide spectrum of guests who all have different tastes. The drinks service in the evening bar was fabulous. Whatever we ordered was accommodated, we found no limits to the all inclusive options. The pool, gym and spa was well run, lots of fun, clean and safe. The lifeguard showed great first aid knowledge when a guest had a fall. An absolute gem, we loved our time there and returned home suitably re-energised!

Hotel is superb the food the entertainment the drinks an all round great hotel. The entertainment young man Marcel is a credit to your hotel never without a smile and always happy to chat. Keep up the great work everyone.we will return to this hotel

We stayed at the hotel from the 19/4/24 - 26/4/24 there was 5 of us staying. Some of the reviews we read before arriving were not good. So we were apprehensive about our stay. We have stayed there a few times in the past. We just wanted to say how lovely & helpful all the staff were. They have such a great team of people working there. They helped with getting an electric scooter, taxis etc. they were just so nice. We’d like our thanks passed on to all the staff. Also the food was good. Big selection & the a la carte restaurants were both very good. Staff in there were also lovely. The only sad thing is that the beds, furniture, flooring & bathrooms are very tired & need upgrading as does the chairs in reception. The bedrooms were extremely clean though. The cleaners do an amazing job. They need to pass on to their head office that they really need to think of upgrading the rooms in order to stop bad reviews & to encourage people to keep coming to Puerto de la Cruz. it seems like all the money gets spent on their hotels in the south of the island & it would be extremely sad after coming to Puerto de la Cruz for the last 30 odd years if this hotel is left to be downgraded further. The Bahia Principe Sunlight San Felipe was clean and tidy both outside and indoors. Hotel staff were always hard working, friendly and keen to help/serve in any way possible. The food and beverages with our all-inclusive package, were excellent. Overall a happy holiday experience.
