Good place to stay

~ Positive points Overall it was a great trip, unlimited package was totally worth it. The food was awesome especially the salmon for me. Highlights were the Best of Perhentian trip (bonus ~ clif jumping) and the Sunset Cruise with unlimited alcohol totally enjoyable. I rated 5 star mainly for the Alunan staffs, they were very friendly and helpful, especially Yann & Richal helping my wife for snorkelling, Azman & Chea help to share info regarding the resort, Cel and Diana helped out on our room replacement. All of them went extra mile to help us out. ~Points to improve The Room, Please don’t expect much, due to the extreme hot weather, the aircond wasn’t strong enough to cool the entire room, we changed to another room but yet the aircond was not able to cover the entire room, somehow we managed. Hope the management can improve on the room aircond. FYI we took the suites, the villa looks great from exterior point, may be will try villa the next time. The staff and overall experience was amazing. Our TV couldn’t connect to wifi so unable to access movies - the tech person did try to fix problem but was unable to. The breakfast was ok. On our walk to Long Beach we were ambushed and charged by wild monkeys - maybe think twice before venturing off grounds. The snorkeling experience was amazing though overpriced.

I'm no stranger to beautiful islands in Malaysia, but it is my partner and his Chinese friends first time to Perhentian Island so I decided to choose our stay with Alunan. And I must say, the resort exceeds my expectations. We enjoyed everything from the beginning to the end of our stay, the welcome drink and friendly Priscilla and her team at the reception, stunning view from the resort room, clean and spacious room, well managed facilities, and very prompt replies to requests. Foods are all good. Love the unlimited package allows me to sip on my gin tonic like no one’s business. We enjoyed the food and view at the Italian restaurant for dinner both evenings. The staff in restaurant will always make sure you leave with happy stomach. The excursions were great with Yan and his team took us to some great places. We saw turtles but not sure if is “Katy Perry”, sunset cruise on Luna with Cel was a great way to mark our last evening in the island. I will definitely come back to Alunan whenever we visit the Perhentian Island.

It's a beautiful eco friendly resort with good amenities, pool, smart tv, spa and activities like scruba experience, batik painting and jungle trekking. Staff are courteous and friendly. They also upgraded our sunset picnic to a sunset cruise. The only downside is I dont think the quality quite meets the price. However, I did get a 50% off deal for the opening weekend after the monsoon season is over.

Truly enjoyed the remarkable view from the resort and also our pool view room. A comfy bed that invoked the long-lost sleep that had gone on for days and the shower area with direct sunlight, overlooking the greens on the island. In all, the best selling point here is not merely the view but the staff who are so very friendly and ever helpful in providing you the best stay here. I give it up to the staff for their beautiful heart and smiling faces throughout our stay here for the four days. We were not too well during our stay and they constantly checked on us whenever they saw us around the premises. What could be better would be the array of food options offered for breakfast and the price point of the food at the Bayu restaurant which would attract people to come there and have all their meals in the resort. Overall, it was an amazing experience but did not have enough of the island. Will surely be back!

Good service dan friendly staff especially abang Yan and staff kitchens. Good view and places. Good place to stay and enjoy the vacation. Also learn a lot about the choral on how to adopt. Very nice experience about that. Looking forward to come again next time.

This resort ticked every box. From arrival to sadly departure. The accommodation was spotless comfortable bed room facilities. I’ve been travelling around SE Asia and my joy as I stepped into my first good hot shower. The food is amazing ( get the all inclusive package well worth it) snorkelling scuba they just took delivery of a new cruise boat and myself and a group of others were the “test guests” what a great time and laugh. My special thanks go to all the kitchen staff who were outstanding. But Erwin and her team, Priscilla, Cel, Azmun the reception team and water sports teams. Massive thank you for the best time

When I arrived at Alunan, I was expecting the standard getaway, an escape from the city to refresh myself temporarily. But as soon as I arrived at the resort (via boat) I noticed something very special about this place. Beyond the breathtaking views and crystal clear skies and ocean, there was a lot of genuine care and connection from the resort team. The delightful guest service assistant, Sel, was waiting at the pontoon to greet new arrivals. She accompanied us to reception while showing us around the resort. After checking in, another guest service assistant, Teha, brought me to my stunning ocean-view room (floor-to-ceiling windows all around, a sizeable bathroom, and a rooftop deck) while explaining the unique character of this resort along the way. In order to preserve the island's ecosytem, no heavy machinery was used in the construction of the resort. There were no single-use plastics to be found, all body care items were natural and reef safe, and complementary jars of snacks were refillable. This has given the resort a very unique character: sturdy metal staircases and platforms connected various parts of the establishment, which rest at different altitudes on the landscape. There was even a tree growing out of the middle of the restaurant, protected by resort owners who seemed to have great respect for the island's primary forest and surrounding seas. Furthermore, the resort is passionate about the reef ecosystem surrounding Perhentian, and boasts a Coral Conservation initiative which allows guests to "adopt" corals. With a small fee, one could learn about corals from resident marine biologists and place rescued corals in the coral nursery. Here, I met Aimi, who answered my questions about coral behaviour (I didn't know corals were animals rather than plants, or that they bred in rather strange ways). Upon adopting a coral, I got to jump into the ocean to snorkel around the coral nursery, which was teeming with fish species. It was surreal. There was also a dive centre, where another marine biologist, Naufal, assisted guests with necessary equipment to explore the seas. Lifejackets and snorkelling equipment were available to utilise at no cost, which led me to develop a daily swimming and snorkelling routine after settling in at the resort. Mind you, there's quite a fair bit to see in the ocean ecosystem in Perhentian. Batfish, wrasses, groupers, blue-lipped clams, corals and many other fishes can be found all around the island, clearly visible as the waters were clear like glass during my stay there. Those who can't swim could just visit the pontoon to look at the various colourful fishes of the Perhentian seas. There are no cars or roads, but one can hike or kayak their way around this stunning island. I went to Keranji beach via kayak and saw stunning, decades-old underwater coral from my kayak, and was often close to tears from the natural beauty of this island.
