Selina Punta Del Este

We have been to Selina a few times. We have chosen it for its cost-benefit relation. The suite is spacious and has a nice view of the shore; it’s located in the peninsula, close to the beach, restaurants and the main street; and it’s not as expensive as most hotels in Punta. However, this time we have found it less interesting due to significant management flaws, which I mention below: 1. Cleaning: Room cleaning is clearly below standards. The rooms have no wardrobes and clothes must be accommodated in a drawer chest and bedside tables. We needed to clean all drawers, as some of them had awful stains and hair. Clearly the room service does not check drawers after guests checkout. 2. Room service: a. We stayed in the hotel for over a week, but room cleaning did not clean our room every day. They missed one day. I’m not sure why. b. There was only one soap for hand washing. No soap nor shampoo were provided for shower. We used our own soap and shampoo, and one day the room service took them away. That’s quite unusual. c. There was an old refrigerator in the room, which did not work properly. We asked it to be fixed, and were informed that it could not be repaired. No water, nor other drinks, are provided in the room. d. In the first day we slept in the hotel the room service nocked on our door when we were still sleeping, which was quite inconvenient. They explained we didn’t put the “do not disturb” sign out, but we didn’t have one in the room. It was provided later. 3. Restaurant: There was a nice Japanese restaurant which has moved away to Montevideo, but it is still advertised on TripAdvisor as located at the hotel. It was an advantage of staying at the hotel as they served a nice breakfast and dinner. We found the current service somewhat limited, and preferred to have breakfast at nearby cafes and restaurants. 4. Swimming pool: It was not appealing for a swim, as the water was opaque. It seemed it hadn’t been cleaned for a while. I would like to return to the hotel in the future, and I hope the management reviews the quality of services currently provided, particularly in regard to room cleaning.

All in general good, quality for the money it’s fair. Sometimes, a great experience can be disrupted by someone that’s not happy making the job, like in this case one of the person of the front desk. That person wasn’t helpful and neither smiling. When you are traveling for leisure you’re looking to relax and having a great time. So having an encounter with someone that is not having it can be a bit not so cool. Working on looking for happy people that work in tourism is very important. My kind suggestion.

The hotel should be called a youth hostel for it´s strcuture. When we arrived it wasn´t even finished yet and several works were still happening. The room was very poor and dirty, old wall air conditioning, the toilet is very old low quality material. When we complained on the reception the manager was very nice and offered us an upgrade. The room was bigger but still very simple, the bathroom was just as bad as the other one and all the works going on on the hotel made it hard to sleep after 9am. Not to mention the doors being knocked very loudly 24/7. It would be fine if it was a cheap hotel or hostel, but charging 220 dolars in South America for this is too expensive. The only positive aspect is the location very central if you want to be close to downtown and the sea.

El hotel super bien ubicado. Las instalaciones están bien, solo falta mejorar la decoración y ambientación del lugar donde está el jacuzzi y la piscina caliente. En el restaurante deben mejorar la oferta de comida. No hay nada del mar (y estamos en un lugar de playa). El servicio de Víctor que trabaja en Recepción fue EXCELENTE, muy eficiente, rápido, preciso y sobretodo amable.

Equipe de marketing muito boa porém estabelecimento deixa muito a desejar. Sem estrutura nos quartos, informa ter espelho de corpo todo e só tem para o rosto, manchas nas paredes e móveis, descarga com defeito, secador não funciona, minha hospedagem inclui bebida de boa vindas que não foi dada e tive que ficar cobrando para nem ter. Piscinas muito sujas e área aberta comum sem nenhuma manutenção. Recepcionista não foi prestativo nem estava disposto a resolver as situações.

Súper propiedad bien ubicada y con excelentes amenidades, la única razón por la cual no le pongo 5 estrellas es por que en el check in nos entregaron la habitación 40 min tarde de la hora prometida y en el check out nos pidieron salir de forma tajante

Todo termino con una denuncia por estafa ya que el inepto e inoperante de Luis (el gerente general para Uruguay) bloqueó mi acceso a mi suite y me retuvo todo mi equipaje. A una semana de la denuncia penal y fiscal por estafa siguen teniendo todo mi equipaje y el de mi hija reteñido.

La ubicación es excelente con buenas instalaciones, es realmente amplio con muchas actividades a realizar, nos alojamos en habitación compartida con baño privado todo excelente, todos los días se realizo la limpieza por lo cual la habitación siempre estaba en condiciones. Cuenta con una cocina amplia y con todos los utensilios necesarios para que uno pueda utilizar.

Honestamente fue una mala experiencia. En principio el lugar me pareció bueno, el estilo joven, cocina compartida, es más un hostel que otra cosa. De noche, ruido de la gente, música alta. La habitación muy simple y con olor raro. A la mañana siguiente, el peor desayuno de hotel que he tenido. Hay tres opciones solamente, te sirven una tostada con huevo, o un mini sandwich caliente, o yogurt, con un café y nada más. Por el precio, es ilógico que te ofrezcan esa miseria. Y sinceramente, lo peor de la estadía fue la atención de la señora de la recepción durante el día. Te habla sin ganas, prepotente, como si la estuvieras molestando por estar haciendo su trabajo. Con una buena atención, mi opinión sería otra, pero es inaceptable que te hagan sentir incómodo. Mientras me atendía, otra muchacha le fue a hacer una pregunta y la señora le habló mal, que ahora no le podía contestar. Le tuve que decir que por favor hiciera su trabajo y le conteste, no habia ninguna necesidad del mal trato. Una lástima porque la idea del lugar está buena, pero la atención de la recepcionista fué inaceptable
