Burnley West Higher Trapp Hotel

We had a lovely time at the Higher Trapp enjoying an extremely good value all inclusive deal. The afternoon tea was amazingly generous and very tasty. Our evening meal was excellent as are the ambience and staff. A special mention for Jay who served us wonderfully - a delightful young man! Bar staff and reception staff ( sorry don't know names) were charming as always. This was our fifth visit - a thoroughly pleasing experience! We will be back.

My friend and I booked 2 nights to enjoy the spa and bubbles package. I can't recommend how great the team are at this hotel. Without exception they were extremely friendly and helpful and couldn't have welcomed us any better. Mollie even gave us a guided tour! Millie and Georgia Beds really comfy. Our only slight neglect would be that we would have preferred to be in the main house and be able to enjoy the atmosphere and beauty of the old building. I think that the website needs to mention that there is a possibility that you could be allocated these rooms (which mean that you are having to go outside to move between your room and breakfast and dinner meals). Luckily the weather was lovely during our visit

Great location for walking. We got the all inclusive deal, which was good. Staff very friendly apart from Emily. The evening all inclusive menu is the same for a few weeks so not much choice. The room was tidy, although my friend requested it to be cleaned but it wasn't.

This hotel is in lovely grounds and very helpful staff. The carpet on the stairs is thread bare, the standard room is very basic, odd furniture, the chair at the desk the springs had gone, dust everywhere including inside the wardrobe, looks like only the main area is hoovered. The menu for the all inclusive deal is very basic but food was ok, the drinks available were good. Could hear music being played from 5am. The radiator didn’t seem to work, there was a plug in use, which had a smell. I personally would never stay here again because of the state of the room.

The staff really make this hotel. Nothing is too much trouble for them. My husband is disabled & we realised that the stairs would be too difficult for him, so I asked to change rooms. Wonderful Millie, on reception & a lovely gentleman, who I think may be a manager, changed the room for us, without hesitation. We were always greeted with a smile throughout our stay, from all of the staff. Debbie looked after our party at breakfast & Holly & Mia served our evening meal. The hotel is looking a bit tired & dated in places, but it didn't spoil things for us. Our room was clean & the food that we had was good, albeit some variety would have made it better. Most meals were 'with chips'. That said, it was excellent value. We were even blessed with sight of the Northern lights during our stay! Special thanks to Millie for alerting us all & ensuring we got some great photos. If you want perfection, this is not the hotel for you, but if you want great,friendly service, a relaxed atmosphere & excellent value, it's ideal. The afternoon tea looked delicious too!

This is our fifth Hotel stay here and this one was for a 5 night all inclusive for my 74th birthday & though all the reception & serving team were still exceptional our experience of the restaurant evening menu was of a poor selection & food quality. See separate review for Fitzy's at The Higher Trapp. We have of yet not had a reply from my own personnel email directly addressed to The Hotel Manager on 04Oct so due to our culinary experience & no response from the manager we have decided to cancel our pre booked stay for Feburay2025 & try another Hotel in the Lavender Group.
