Gamston Lock, Nottingham by Marston's Inns

We have stayed at the Gamston Lock on many occasions and always found it to be a decent place. However this time it had gone down hill dramatically. The room was dirty, hairs in the bath that we had to clean before we could use it, hairs under the toilet seat even in the sink and on the bedding. There was only one bath towels so one of us had to use a hand towel when we came out of the shower. The table in the room was dirty and in need of a good wipe. One of the cups was dirty and needed washing. The main automatic door in to the hotel area was broken and was left open all night even though there is no reception area or anyone to keep an eye on it. There was a coke bottle dumped in that area that was there for the duration. In the morning when we went to the restaurant for breakfast there was a huddle of staff in the corner of the restaurant, one of which was on a very loud video call with someone so the whole restaurant could hear. Someone decided to wash the floor in a busy thoroughfare through the toilets which made it absolutely lethal, regardless of whether they put a sign out, they should have been doing this before the restaurant opened.

Fab family room, plenty of space even with two extra single beds. Good tea and coffee facilities. Room was very clean and well provided. Great breakfast on site, wonderful staff all round.

10/10 couldn’t be better! Such great value for money, and the staff were super helpful. Lovely breakfast for only £8 each, the room was clean and large. We’ll definitely be back if near the area.

The stay was,as always, excellent. Good quick service at check in. Friendly and professional. The room in great condition. Clean.roomy and the best bed ever.

We needed a night stop prior to an early hospital appoin**ent and this great value option was the nearest accommodation. On the plus side, amazing value: free parking: adequate dining next door: fantastic free wifi: modern amenities in the room: quality tea and coffee. On the not so good side: a musty smell in the bathroom: bed OK, but not as comfortable as a Premier Inn: carpet and walls marked here and there: noise from surrounding room, but this is the norm in this type of accommodation.

The nicest place I've stayed for a long time. The room was super clean and the bed was both mahooosive and comfy. The room also had really nice coffee, tea and biscuits. Excellent breakfast options with inclusions for both veggies and vegans.

The room was simple, nice and clean. Some scuffs on the walls but had everything you would want for an overnight stay. The price is very reasonable and the bed very comfy.

Gamston Lock was ideally located for my daily trips to work. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay again.
