Beta Hotel

Quiet ,new, well located, nicely decorated in Salento style with a charming patio. Excellent service. Room is very comfortable, clean. Breakfast is served generously. Very good quality for an affordable price. Jeeps to Cocora and Filandia are in the same carrera 3. Bus terminal is close by . Plenty of restaurants . The hotel has its own restaurant.

PROS: Great location. Quiet at night. Helpful and friendly hotel staff. CONS: It was a bit hot for us as there was no AC, but hard to find a hotel in Salento with AC. The only “window” we could open would open to the courtyard so no privacy and light came in the room from the courtyard until about 10:40 pm (that’s when they manually turn it off). Breakfast was ok. A bit monotonous after the third day (eggs and bread with a bit of fruit). Why don’t hotels in Colombia offer more fruit?

This is a lovely and quaint family run hotel, built around a beautiful courtyard. My husband and I came in quite late due to delays at the airport and the kind receptionist send us to the only place open nearby for the last half of the Super Bowl. Our room had a king bed, was nice, clean and the shower temperature was hot and lovely. Unfortunately the next morning we were woken up numerous times by a six and eight year old who were running up and down the courtyard yelling with no supervision. I eventually dragged myself to the front counter and said we couldn't tolerate this behaviour as we were both so tired. Eventually with google translate, the girl at the front desk was able to get me in touch with the owner, Belinda. She is a sweetheart. She immediately indicated she would address the issue with the family and would not permit them to stay on any more nights. She further went out of her way to ensure we had a great stay. The hotel owns a restaurant just across the road where they serve a delicious included breakfast. They also have an extensive menu for other meals and appetizers, lovely drinks and this was some of the best food we had in Colombia and for very reasonable prices. Her family is also involved in the business and one of her completely fluent sons does tours but is booked months in advance so prepare! I would very, very highly recommend this hotel. The only thing I would change is to put a lot more information regarding Salento at the front. Maps, tours, points of interests, ect. The front desk girls are so sweet but do not speak English. Worse comes to worst, there is a tourism office nearby but you need to find it on your own and only if you know to look for it. This is a hidden Gem of a hotel.

Book this hotel (directly is best, not through booking or other platforms)! Everything is good and professional: room, bed, food, reception, personnel. It is a family business and all are friendly and helpful. We slept and ate very well. Delicioso desayuno and very good quality lunch/diner.

The good: Loved the property. The courtyard is beautiful. The bed was very comfortable and the staff are very nice. They gave good recommendations for restaurants and cafes in the area. Loved the ability to open small windows to let in fresh air. TV w/ Netflix worked well. The bad: The advertised meeting rooms did not exist and theWiFi was spotty. This was problematic for us as we booked it since we needed to work on the trip. Toilet was too close to the shower (had to lean one way while sitting!). The towels did not dry properly while hanging in the bathroom. Overall, a nice comfortable stay with a few issues holding it back. Would recommend as long as you do not need to do work at the property.

We stayed at Betatown for 5 nights. Our room was very spacious (family room) modern and clean. No AC. NONE of the hotels in Salento have AC. A guide said it doesn’t get too hot that’s why they don’t need AC. However, I am used to a cooler environment so I had some difficulty sleeping due to the temperature in the room. They did provide me with a fan so that was a lot of help. The shower water was fantastic, you get very hot water. The hotel is also a walking distance to the bus station and to the center of Salento(where you can find ATM, or exchange money) You can wash your clothes in hotel or across the street there is a laundry place. I would definitely stay here again. The staff is helpful and friendly. In my opinion one of the best hotels to stay during your visit to Salento.

The staff at this hotel was super welcoming and helpful during my stay. The hotel is only a 8-10 minute walk from the town square. The area around the hotel is quiet at night. The only con I have is that the rooms have poor ventilation. There are windows, but they open into the hotel’s hallways. I wish the room had a fan or exterior-facing but windows. Other than that, it was a good stay.

I can definitely see why this place is rated so highly. Clean rooms, affordable, and above all else - amazing service. They were flawless when it came to arranging transportation to and from the airport, tours/activities and tips for how to explore the area. Great restaurant as well. 100% satisfied with my stay.

Wonderful property and even better people. They will treat you like family. A quiet and intimate hotel. Enjoyed every minute of it.
