Cayo Levantado Resort - All Inclusive

Booked this hotel to spend new year with my family, seeing all the hype and promotions through internet I thought this would be an awesome experience in a eco friendly environment that promotes wellness and relaxation. Well it turns out that it only was pics and videos, nothing special just another 3 star hotel in an island. Let’s start with the arrival at the hotel dock, didn’t see the welcome dance in Taino costumes or the cleanse ceremony that they show in the videos. Instead we were received by this useless nonexistent ambassador called Angela who didn’t introduce herself and we had no clue who she was until some other staff member told us, was absent and didn’t respond any message through the whole time we there. Second point is the food, we got intoxicated by the food at the buffet Palma real we got diarrhea and my mother even vomited. If you stay at this hotel avoid the buffet like the plague, take your breakfast and lunch at Santa yuca which is way better and isn't full of flies. Third point is the absurd amount of flies like really I can accept some flies but Jesus Christ they were flies everywhere, they need to do something about this. Fourth is the lack of employees, I witnessed verbal aggression between the staff members due to the excessive amount of work, you could see staff from the buffet at the beach preparing cocktails, supervisors organizing towels and cleaning and even managers picking plates and glasses. They really need to start hiring more employees instead of exploiting the current staff which make an awesome job in general but tay can’t be everywhere multitasking like robots. Fifth point was the beach, is very small and lack sufficient amount of chairs for everyone, you need to wake up early and leave some stuff in the chairs if you wanted a spot at beach which lacked service like none is going to serve you a drink or bring you something to eat to your chair because they have a severe lack personnel. The last point that I’m going to mention is the new year party, which was a disaster in general, first they told to the majority of the guests that no reservation was required for this party, well guess what? Yes reservation was required but they only told to a few hand off guests because as I mentioned they lack staff and can only attend a few amount of guests with their current count, so they let everyone else standing up with their drinks at hand. I mean young people didn’t have a problem with this but they were old people standing at least pretend like you have manners and bring them a chair for god sake. I only give this hotel 3 stars and that’s because of the location but is just a regular hotel with average food and drinks. They are 4 stars at punta cana that put this joke of hotel in shame.

My wife and I just returned from a week at Cayo Levantado and all we can say is this resort is absolutely amazing! Everything was perfect! The resort has recently been refurbished and the level of details, care and attention in every single aspect of the vacation is beyond excellence. From the initial reception to departure and throughout the whole journey, the staff is truly sensational (too many to single out anyone - they are ALL great!), the rooms are spectacular, the food and service at every restaurant are superior quality, the experience at the Yubarta (thank to Carmen and team) and the spa are memorable. You MUST try the YUBARTA sessions!! Our ambassador Marco was always present and proactive. I am lacking superlatives to describe this place. We have been to many vacation resorts in the Caribbean over the past many years and this one tops them all by far. One small caveat, both the public and private beaches are somewhat small (this is a small island after all), so if having a very long ***** of beach is paramount to your vacation, this resort doesn't provide it. I am strongly recommending Cayo Levantado and we will definitely return.

Run, don’t walk, to go visit one of the best resorts in the Caribbean!!! My wife and I got back last month after celebrating her 50th birthday at Cayo Levantado and I can honestly say it was one of the best properties and resorts we have ever stayed at. We have travelled a lot in the Caribbean (including various times to DR) to many all inclusives, hotels, resorts and private houses/Air BNB’s, as well as in the USA, Europe, and Tahiti so we do have a good amount of experience. The service, quality ,location and beauty of Cayo Levantado is definitely in the top places we have stayed at, and the fact that the staff went above and beyond to do so many special things for my wifes birthday really showed how much this resort focuses on service for the client. From start to finish, we were treated in such a superb manner that I was very impressed with every part of our experience. We arrived into Santo Domingo airport and had the driver waiting for us just outside the baggage area ready to whisk us away in our private van for the beautiful 2 hour ride to the resort. (pro tip, definitely book the hotel transfer from the airport , it was easy, super professional and the drivers were top notch whom gave us a lot of information on the resort and the country). Upon arriving in the town of Samana where you board the short boat ride, I knew this place was going to be spectacular. We were dropped off the little casita that is so beautiful where they great you with drinks, and they check you in right there and give you your bracelet. That is the only thing you need for the whole time you are on the resort, and the fact that the checkin process was so easy, fast and beautiful with a drink in hand, made us appreciate how well thought out the process was. We were quickly on board on the little boat for the beautiful 10 minute ride to the island, and as we got closer we started realizing how beautiful this place is. We were greeted at the private dock by several workers and welcome staff and we met our personal concierge at that time, he name was Daurelin and she made the trip so special. Prior to arriving, I had contacted her and the concierge desk prior to our arrival and they never stopped offering their full services before and during our whole stay. Daurelin and her team decorated our room for a special surpise on her birthday, booked all our dinners, arranged a special gift and always were there to book massages, get our pool and beach towels and offer all types of tips. We definitely would have missed out on some of the resort without them. We stayed at a family junior pool suite and we were in room 304. As soon as we got into our room , we realized what a special place this is. Fantastic trip! When I booked it looked a little pricey to me, but immediately after I got there I could tell this resort is great value. The closest thing I had experienced before was the Four Seasons in Baia Papagayo, but the experience at Cayo Levantado was better and the price was less than half. Great facilities, great staff, tons of activities (there is no reason to leave the resort), great food, all in a truly paradisiac location.

Our stay at Cayo Levantado was from 10/11-10/20. Ten days was just not enough. The pictures you see of this resort do not employ the justice it deserves. We have stayed at many high end resorts and this rivals most. We were treated like royalty. We had an amazing time and I must say mostly because of the staff. The staff has such an eye for detail and explodes while anticipating your needs that it is overwhelming at times. We can’t possibly mention everyone so here are a few that stood out but be mindful that the entire staff is wonderful. Lidia- server in (best smile) Herve/ GM ( the best!!) Jeffery (Manyana/Senda) Yulissa Carlos and Ricky (beach bar) Housekeeping- am beach bungalow Miguelina (server @ Carey) Juana in the bar- lemon saw Judith Ambassadors- Geuris-rest supervisor Luis Alberto- rest supervisor Yorkis- ambassador Emmanuela David and Jeffery- gym The grounds of the resort are impeccably manicured but leave it in a natural state that is to enjoy. The food is exceptional. We did experience a language barrier but it did not dull our food or quality of service. My husband enjoyed personal training at the gym on a daily basis with David and Jeffery. I turned towards the spa which I can assure you is state of the art with the most relaxing environment. We experienced biking on the water, kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming in the clearest water I have ever seen. The pools are beautiful and complement the beach. Housekeeping is probably the best I have had anywhere! Our room was a beach bungalow with a plunge pool overlooking the water. Decor was perfect as if you were under the sea. Lobby bar fantastic. Room service on point. If you can imagine a perfect island vacation this is it!! Coffee shop rivals most. All of our needs were met. We felt like we were at home and to me that is the most important feeling one can have. Cayo Levantado was like home in a paradise! Think of Fantasy Island back in the day and you have it!! Worth every penny! From start to finish Cayo did not miss a beat!

Bottom line up front (BLUF)The resort is indeed expensive and the occupancy is very low now, however, this Cayo Levantado Resort is NOT the Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado you had known. It is completely different by all means, redesigned, rebuilt; with new menus, meals and drink choices. The new brand, Cayo Levantado Resort, is well designed. New fresh look everywhere, beautiful color dress for the staff, incredible plates and glasses, light fixtures, wall colors, chairs all are carefully picked. It was a well planned work and a huge investment for the Piñero Group! They stepped away a bit from the Bahia Principe name they don’t even count your stay here for your Bahia account, and vice versa, your Bahia black level means nothing here. Absolutely elevated services everywhere, you can’t compare the “old” buffet restaurant to the recent offerings. Don Pablo was very good but Manaya is 1000 times better. I am not going to touch the regular things like travel, from the airport to the harbor and from there to the resort, it hasn’t changed much, but the catamaran is new, and you will have wifi in the harbor at the check-in, these are the new things. The wifi itself is excellent, throughout the resort you will get strong and reliable signal even to call, watch movie or whatever you want. The check-in I have made online upfront in the new Cayo Levantado application so they didn’t have to do anything in the harbor just gave us the new type bracelet which is your key and ID for the restaurants. Actually the application is good, you can book restaurants, you can check the activities schedule, also contact your ambassador (butler) or order room service. The room is well designed, the bed is comfortable, the towels are very good. There is fresh coconut body lotion in the bathroom with expire date on. As well as on the scrub in the shower cabin hand made. The liquid soap, shampoo and the conditioner are good quality. The hairdryer is very good according to my wife. The minibar is absolutely unique. Different Dominican hand made chocolate bars, passion fruit drink (fresh), white tea, water (still and sparkling), Dominican beer, coke. Two bottles of Dominican rum 375 ml each. The safe is very good, regular hotel safe as anywhere in North America. There is a steamer in the closet, an umbrella and a yoga mattress. In the room there is an excellent outlet to charge your devices with USB type A and C. The tv could be hidden with moving doors, and actually you can pair your phone with the tv and use your phone as remote control for the tv or/and for the lights and for the AC. The AC is excellent, very effective. The ongoing erosion of the beach (on the left) has been stopped with huge sand bags (I hate them), but on that side of the island the waves are huge and strong as it was the case always. My husband and I just returned from 5 days at Cayo Levantado, and we are already trying to figure out how/when to go back! This is an amazing place from start to finish. The staff were all very friendly and helpful -- such great service. The rooms were lovely and comfortable. Food was top notch. Really enjoyed yoga and meditation classes at the Yubarta -- not something we usually do on vacation, but it was perfect. The pool and the beach were gorgeous and relaxing. When you arrive, you are assigned two ambassadors who will help you with everything from scheduling activities to making dinner reservations. Our ambassadors, Yerry and Eddyl were great! We loved meditation and yoga with Karla and Florangel, workouts with David and Jonny at the training gym, and had great massages at the spa. Highly recommend some time in the the hydrotherapy room at the spa! Jeffris, one of the restaurant managers, was always looking out for us. May is an off-season period at the resort, but this made it even more relaxing -- we thought it was a great time to go!

This was by far one of my best beach vacations EVER! I went with my children (10 and 12 yo) and we had an amazing time. The service was impeccable, the food wonderful, and the staff was warm, friendly, and kind. Our ambassador Adrian went above and beyond to help make our stay as comfortable and seamless as possible. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed Yubarta yoga and sound bath offerings. Our villa was beautiful, surrounded by nature. Waking up to the sound of birds all around us was truly a moving experience. I recommend this resort to anyone who wants a relaxing, beautiful, restful vacation. Simply the BEST.

Cayo Levantado Resort was an absolute dream vacation. Every single detail is beyond five stars. The staff are truly remarkable. They go above and beyond, remember your name, and do whatever they can to make your vacation exactly what you'd like. The location is stunning, with beautiful beaches, gardens and greenery. The rooms are gorgeous and very comfortable, with everything you could possibly need at your fingertips. My favorite element was the food. Before visiting, I thought the menus looked great, but level set my expectations with this being an all-inclusive. To my surprise, the food and drinks were spectacular, with fresh local ingredients. Every meal I had was better than the one prior. I cannot wait to return.
