The hotel was perfectly located for walking around all over Old San Juan. The place really has character, bringing out its historical setting while providing modern conveniences. The desk clerks were pleasant and helpful.
Regrettably, like many facilities in recent years, daily housekeeping has been dropped, which is troubling in a place where toilet paper must be discarded in the wastebasket, rather than flushed. We left the placard on the doorknob, requesting maid service, but it had no effect. Regardless, the room was clean when we arrived.

Overall, our stay was alright. Check in was a breeze, restaurants were super walkable, and the room itself was very clean. Felt very safe the whole time as well. Unfortunately, our room was right next to the entrance and no one enforced the quiet hours posted. Even the staff were being noisy and I had to ask them to quiet down so we could sleep. Even with that, the building itself is older and all tile making noises echo so anytime someone arrived or were chatting in the hall or lounge area, we could hear them clearly. Thankfully, I had a white noise app and we turned that all the way up and were able to drown out the noise.

Did not know when I booked that my room was across from the kitchen area or that the room was a couple of feet from the main door. Whenever someone entered or exited the front door I’d hear the door chime in my room at all hours.

We only stayed one night the place itself was perfect for what I expected. Beds could be more comfortable less creeky. And not very private as you can hear everyone in other rooms.

Fortaleza suites has superb location - right in the old town- walking distance to many restaurants, the fortress and waterfront. The building itself in need of renovation- the plumbing is outdated. The bed though not queen size more like double bed is comfortable. The check in process isn’t great- we had to stay on the street because there’s the code that wasn’t provided to us. We were able to walk in because other guests were exiting. Then we waited by the reception desk about 15 min to be checked in. But stuff is friendly and overall we had a good stay.

I cannot believe how lucky we were to snag a room at the beautiful spot right before the San Sebastián festival! Our room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The staff was welcoming and very helpful. We are ready to book our next stay as soon as possible!

We booked the hotel for the San Sebastián weekend with friends. The location of the hotel was very convenient, the suite was very comfortable, just a little bit outdated decor, the staff very friendly.

Our family enjoyed our stay. The Presidential Suite had lots of space, including a full dining room and kitchen. Kids loved the third sleeping area which is a loft. Balcony looks out over Forteleza street. A little noisy at night due to fronting a busy street in the city. Location is excellent for getting out and exploring San Juan! Lots of restaurants and shops nearby and easy to walk to the various tourist sites.
