We stayed at the Albatroz for 4 nights, we booked a junior suite with sea view room and stayed half board. The rooms are very spacious, the beds are comfortable and the sea view from the upper level is beautiful. The hotel is very close to the airport and you can get a free transfer provided by the hotel which takes about 5-10 minutes. This hotel is quiet and relaxing, the food is very good and all the staff are professional, helpful and very friendly. Breakfast is a buffet with everything you could want including eggs or pancakes cooked to order. The selection of food for dinner was very good, selection of seafood, different meats and pasta. I’d like to have seen more sauces to accompany the meals but it was all very, very good. The hotel is a little bit isolated, the nearest town Santa Cruz is a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute cab ride. We unfortunately didn’t get to visit this town as the day we were planning to go there a storm came in and we were stuck in the hotel all day. We used Bolt to get around which is like Uber, very easy to use and much cheaper than the taxis. To get to Funchal is about a 20 minute ride and cost around 15 euros one way or you can get a bus from the airport which is around 6 euros. If you’re new to Bolt when you sign up to the app you get discount on your first 5 trips.

This property is absolutely remarkable– from the architectural design to the fresh Atlantic breeze! Staff members are very attentive and friendly. This hotel also features a wonderful dining facility and spa. And no need to worry about missing your flight, as the Albatroz is located only a few minutes of the airport.

If the perfect hotel exists, this is it! From the moment that you walk into the hotel there is nothing that is too much trouble for the wonderful staff. The rooms are spacious, all with wonderful sea views and you can fall asleep listening to the sounds of the waves. The vegetarian menu in the restaurant is the best that we have come across on Madeira. The Albatroz leaves Reids Palace and Cliff Bay in its shadow. It is by far the best hotel on the island, and we would now not consider staying anywhere other than the Albatroz on Madeira. Our only problem is leaving when it is time to go home, we never want to go!

Our First visit in this Hotel, and for sure not our last! Why? The hotel's kind helpful staff and breathtaking location and unique ocean swimming pool are responsible for all of this! Such a wonderful view that you can admire from the Hotel to the Atlantic Ocean! Excellent food and perfect serving no matter you having your meal outside like a terace looking across the sea to the Desertas Islands. Dont be afraid cause the Hotel is locating so close to the Airport. No any disturbing noise comeing to the Hotel area! Even in November a treat swimming in the amazing sea pools and Atlantic ocean, cause water temperature is quite warm to enjoy. All around the Hotel is very clean and so amazingly gardened! They offer free Airport transfer which is very cool and confortable! If you visit Madeira dont miss their Hotel and there magnificiant Ocean Pool

Thank you to all at ABYC for looking after us so well when we stayed twice for a total 11 nights on our trip to Madeira this month. Manager Diogo should be justly very proud of his venue and staff. Please accept our thanks and to name but a few please extend our warmest thanks and best wishes to Catarina Olena and Sandra on reception. To all in the Restaurant and Kitchens and the housekeeping staff. No stone was left unturned to look after our every need. We thoroughly recommend and wish you and your team from the private owner to all within the hotel the very best in the future. You deserve every continuing success.

Our second visit here, and hopefully not our last. Such a wonderful place. Friendly helpful staff, nothing is too much trouble. Excellent food and the bonus of breakfast sat outside looking across the sea to the Desertas Islands. Really not a problem to be so close to the airport , interesting watching the few planes coming in. Even in November a treat swimming in the amazing sea pools.

Well, we've been back to this little paradise in Madeira. With such beautiful memories of the Albatroz, we couldn't resist for long, so we booked a last-minute trip. We were warmly welcomed and the staff still remembered us. In the room we were offered a small bottle of sweet Madeira wine and Madeira honey cakes. The reception staff were very kind, helping us to plan and book activities. All the organised excursions offered free pick-up from the hotel, so we didn't bother hiring a car this time. Although it was November, the weather in Madeira was still surprisingly warm. The temperature of the sea water was also pleasant, so we were able to enjoy the natural swimming pool every day.

We started off our honeymoon here. Arrived late to the airport, called the hotel, and were picked up within minutes (free transfer). Arriving at the hotel, they had given us a beautiful room and and incredibly hospitable welcome. The rooms are spacious and to an excellent quality. The staff are equally wonderful and highly professional. Food at the restaurant is unbelievably good, both for breakfast and dinner. The pools are absolutely as spectacular as they look. The manager Diogo runs a great operation, and took us back to the airport so we could pick up our hire car. We could not speak more highly of the staff at this hotel, who make a beautiful surrounding and facility into a truly special place. Any concerns about being next to an airport should be dismissed. It's not an especially busy airport, there is limited noise, and you get to watch the planes coming in at quite close a distance from the sea side pools. We've never been to Madeira before, but will be returning and Albatroz is somewhere we'll be coming back to. They were also great at communicating with us beforehand too.
