I travelled Nov. 3rd to Nov. 17th. Not my first trip to this resort, but I was a little worried to travel so early in the season. Departed Toronto just an hour late and arrived after an amazing flight with OWG into Holguin. This is a new airline operated by Hola sun and I was very pleasantly surprised. The food was the best I have ever had on a plane - served piping hot with the most wonderful brownie!! The flight crew were personable and professional. The flight was not full, so weight limit were a little flexible. Most of the plane was full of tourist staying in Holguin and only 7 of us boarded a small bus/taxi to Santiago. We did stop about half way there and were able to grab a beer, use the facilities and have a quick smoke. Off to Santiago where we had 2 stops to drop off guests at Las Americas and Casa Grande. Then the fun began - there is a detour leaving Santiago which confused out driver and we got lost!! Ended up in Siboney even after we kept telling him to turn left!! We arrived at Los Corales an hour late, but were still greeted by members of the Animation Crew and a Rum Punch - yum!!. We were upgraded to the Cabana section which I had never stayed in before - very nice! Comfy beds, really hot water and a sweet Chambermaid who had a hard time believing i didn't need my room cleaned every day! I was in A-1 which had a great view of the parking lot...lol. Old Bucanero friends were on staff, Alejandro in Reception, Elizabeth in Commercial relations and Natalie in the restaurant. The first few meals were served in the Lobby bar, and then were were directed to the Restaurant. Not a varied selection, but the food was hot and delicious. The pool was clean and refreshing, and Fransisco was at his usual post at the swim up bar. Animation crew always around for a chat, never did get in m Domino lesson! I had first booked Costa Morena but as they are only open on the weekends I was shifted to Corales. The first Saturday I took the staff bus to CM to visit with again old Bucanero friends - Oneivis, Omara and Eloy - also got to see Esther, Jesus and Mama Frita! You can see the damage done by the Cuban tourists, colour panels broken out of the new fence and plates and plastic cups everywhere. Eloy drove me back to Los Corales in time for an afternoon swim and to get ready for dinner. The next week was filled with sun fun and some rum and on the last Friday I went into the city to stay at Las Americas for the weekend - a friends birthday, visits with friends and some good Cuban home cooking! The hotel was not full and they didn't mind me wandering down to get coffee in the morning in my jammies! The cost was $45.00 Canadian per night and that included breakfast. Back to Los Corales on the Monday - $50.00 US for the taxi, didn't get his name but he was cheerful, stopped to let me take pictures nd grab some beer at the gas station just past the Prehistoric park. The last few days were spent at the pool, only one day did it require some chlorine, but
