Crowne Plaza SANYA YAZHOU BAY by IHG

Great hotel. Upon arrival I was given a room upgrade, a very nice spacious room on 20th floor with the ocean view. The hotel is new unlike most other hotels in Hainan. Spotless cleaning. Amazing restaurant on the 23d floor - the best food I had in China, really. Everything I had there was prepared with soul and had wonderful combination of flavors. Nice pool, open till 10 pm, and a good gym. The breakfast was good, however, some dishes were heated and served on the next day (eg, dumplings had dry dough edges etc). The beach were empty, no problem with vacant sunbeds (as in Yalong bay, for ex). The staff was nice, Anya from the front desk answered all my questions in Wechat and provided help. The main problem for me was the location. While it is a good choice if you want to visit the Center if Buddism and other attractions in Nanshan area (very close from Yazhou bay), there are no good convenience shops, supermarkets or cafes withing walking area from the hotel. I could not order food delivery as did not have the local sim card, so finding food outside the hotel was not easy. If you do not have this problem then it must be ok. Also the area for some reason was completely unpopulated, totally empty streets during the day, it was a bit strange. Overall, the hotel is great, but a small convenience store at the premises would make a difference.

We were traveling with my mom, that was our first travel to China. Booked this hotel as it was on of few options with dinners, far from crowded Sanya city or Dadonghai area. Anyways, let's start with some positive points: 1. Good breakfasts, very diverse, tasty, can find lots of variations of both asian cusine and european. 2. Helper service via Wechat. Millie thanks a lot for your help. 3. Beach was very close and there were sunbeds and umbrellas, which was nice, as wather was really hot. 4. Located in new developed area, which has nice parks and places nearby, like Bugenvillia park or Shopping Mall in just walking distance. 5. Water was provided and towels were changed daily. 6. Sea view from balcony and hotel room was awesome. What is definitely I fwlt like is that hotel and services there are not for long stay. Our stay was 10 nights and 9 days. Also we reserved with dinner option...which was not the best idea. Moving to some questionable parts: 1. Dinners: general option is chicken coconut pot, which a soup with chicken and veggies plus you can go and grab some salads, rice, fruits and they give you coconut dessert. It's fine if you eat it for few times, but not for 9 dinners. So we asked our helper if there are any options. There were 3 sets we can swap, which is fried chicken with rice, soup, bread and fruits; spicy chicken; pork legs. I would say this, chicken is not very tasty there, the skin is too thick, not a lot of meat and it's dry. 2. Gym was awful because the amount of mosquitoes (as somwtimes windows are opened) and that i never got to gym with air conditioner turned on (i had to switch it on and wait till at least temperature drops a little bit), it's 27 °C in gym where you have to sweat and workout, it's absolutely insane. 3. Communication was very difficult, almost no one understands English. When we checked out, no one helped us with luggage lifting to taxi car 🫠 4. Cleaning was not very good. We run out of body wash and i intentionally opened a bottle so the cleaning lady will notice and refill it - nah, 3 days it was just left like that. I don't think our bed sheets were ever changed through all 10 days. Mirrors were spotted, as well as balcony glass fence. 5. Overall room inconveniences: Sewage in bathroom was bad because of those marble squares blocking water running down, we had to lift them so water will go away. There was no toilet brush in the toilet room, we bought one in a supermarket, no air freshener so god forbids doing our nasty business as the smell is gonna be all over the room. The room is for 2 ppl, why there would be only one chair on balcony I don't really understand. There is so much space. To sum up, this hotel might be a good choice for short stay, for long stay probably not the best option.

The room is bigger than i expect. Sofa and bed are comfortable. Super clean, nice view. I enjoy the stay alot. Special thanks to Anya, very helpful and always smile when talking.

The view, service, rooms, and cleanliness were fantastic. The food generally catered only to Chinese customers. They could also offer dishes appealing to Middle Eastern and European customers. I recommend it.

The staff, service and facilities were excellent this was a very good stay in a beautiful setting. We were most impressed with the hotels generosity and prompt service when we requested anything. The only thing staying here is you have nothing nearby to visit and it’s a long way out of Sanya. So you need to be contempt to stay in the hotel and enjoy what you have. The only criticism we had was the menu had a poor selection and given no western restaurants nearby it meant limited choice. They need to have much more variety on their menu and choice especially for guests like us who stayed there six nights. However we were most impressed with the staff, cleanliness, modern facilities and spacious sea front room being excellent.

Nice Hotel, Short Walk to the Beach. Not many Restaurants nearby

I’m writing this review while staying at what is often called "the best hotel in Hainan"—Capella. While it costs significantly more, my experience at Crowne Plaza surpassed it in warmth and value. Our parents recently bought an apartment in this area, which isn’t a typical tourist destination. It’s a quieter, newly developed town centered around tech and academia, so my expectations for the hotel were modest. Yet from the moment we arrived late in the evening, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Mia, who handled our check-in, was exceptionally kind and even shared her contact details to ensure we had everything we needed. Beyond her, the entire team was professional, attentive, and clearly well-trained. The management’s commitment to guest satisfaction is evident—they even surprised our parents with a complimentary photo session,a thoughtful touch we didn’t expect! For the level of service, comfort, and extra perks, this hotel offers fantastic value. Since we’ll be visiting our parents often, we’ll absolutely return to Crowne Plaza. Highly recommended for anyone staying in the area!

Great clean hotel with pool and nearby to beach! Good for some family quiet time. Childrens club was quite nice with movie theatre!
