Zur Alten Brucke

We selected this on account of the TripAdvisor rating. What we failed to do is to check out the age of TripAdvisor reviews. It turned out to be run down, not very clean, threadbare towels. The Only positive aspect is the location. The town of Schiltach is a real gem.

Wow! We loved this place! Zur Alten Brucke and its proprietor, Michael were such a highlight of our trip. While exploring some towns in the Black Forest we found the picturesque town of Schiltach and decided to walk around and see if we could find a restaurant. This place is a hidden gem. As we went inside we were greeted with the warmest hello and smile of our entire trip. As it was mid-October and past the tourists season we were the only ones in the restaurant. Michael is very fluent in English which was helpful, even though I am conversationalist in Google translate. He brought us some English menus and we placed our beer order. The beer was excellent and the food was wonderful. Everything tasted fresh and was served with a smile. After a couple of beer I asked Michael about a local hotel, which he replied that there was one very close by, that was inexpensive and had a complimentary breakfast. I said great and he said that he would happily set a reservation for us. We were up well into the night drinking beer (and maybe a couple of shots) and were joined not only by Michael but also his son. We later found out that the hotel was up the stairs the restaurant was part of the hotel. The accommodations were wonderful and just as quaint as the rest of the town. Everything was clean and in good working order. We were able to enjoy the sound and view of the river in front of the hotel. The next morning he had prepared a breakfast fit for a king. We had fresh bread and pastries from the bakery next door, bacon and eggs and fresh fruit. We were also fortunate that the town was having a farmers market the next day. After checking out we walked around the town and were greeted by so many folks along with their crafts and food. I highly recommend that if you are anywhere close, stop by and see Michael, have a bratwurst and an apple strudel and pint or 6 of beer and plan on staying the night. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

If you want some peace and quiet this is a great location. Also you will meet the most hospitable owner/chef you will ever meet. Michael was very kind, helpful and the restaurant food is excellent. There is not too much to do in town, but it is a beautiful relaxing place. It is central to your day trips to other towns or sites in the area. I would definitely recommend a day trip to Colmar, France. It is a very picturesque town with great restaurants. Parking at the hotel is on the street in front of the hotel. I think it is two hour parking in the day time, but we were gone during the days. If you are looking for tourist stores, there is none in this town or in most of the nearby German towns. You will have to go to Lake Titisee or somewhere like that where it is more touristy. There is a great little bakery nearby for morning treats and coffee. Our room was on the back which had a private patio overlooking the alley with beautiful historic homes. The front rooms do have a view of the river. I would definitely stay here again!

Tras viajar unas semanas por Alemania, este restaurante ha resultado un hallazgo fabuloso. Hemos cenado trucha y ensalada, y pasta con queso. De postre strudel de manzana. Rodeadxs de un entorno precioso. Uno de los lugares más bonitos que hemos visto de la Selva Negra. No excesivamente caro. La persona que nos atendió encantadora. Muy recomendable.

Ubicado en un encantador rincón del pueblo junto al río. La terraza merece la pena. El personal muy amable y atento, el propietario es encantador, la cerveza buenísima, no se puede pedir más ¡inmejorable!

On est tombé sur ce resto par hasard avec une amie après la visite du village de Schiltach et du musée Hansgrohe. C'était très tard et on n'aurait pas pu avoir plus de chance ! Mickaël est super sympa et nous a fait à manger malgré l'heure tardive. On a pu goûter les raviolis maison et la bière d'Alpirsbach. Les prix sont corrects pour les plats et en plus on peut manger sur la terrasse sur la rivière, parmi des belles jardinières dont Mickaël nous a expliqué qu'il prend beaucoup de soin. On reviendra quand on repassera par la Forêt Noire ! Danke schön!

La comida estuvo deliciosa, probé el plato típico Maultaschen, y es realmente muy bueno. El ambiente del restaurante totalmente típico del lugar. Michael Mogler muy amable y atento como host. Belle chambre dans un endroit bien situé au bord de la rivière . L'accueil est sympathique , un peu froid au départ . Permet de se garer devant avec un disque pour zone bleue. Chambre parfaite. Parfait petit déjeuner

We verbleven hier 7 nachten in September. Het hotel ligt op een uitstekende lokatie, in het dorpje met het riviertje de Schiltach voor de deur, alles op loopafstand. Bakkerij en kleine supermarkt op 100 meter. Eind van de straat en aan overkant van riviertje kun je gratis parkeren. Het hotel is gemoedelijk, slechts 7 of 8 kamers dus nooit te druk. Het gebouw is oud en karakteristiek, maar goed onderhouden. Wij hadden een grote, schone kamer aan de voorkant, t****e verdieping. Badkamer is vrij klein, maar groot genoeg en erg schoon. Warm water en waterdruk uitstekend. Bedden zijn goed, lekker geslapen. Het was 24-26 graden overdag, maar binnen blijft de temperatuur prima om te slapen. Kamer heeft vrij nieuw raam, wat je ruim open of op kier kan zetten, 's nachts hoorden we het riviertje vredig kabbelen. Ontbijt is heerlijk, ruim van keuze en erg smakelijk. Michael de eigenaar is een gediplomeerd chef kok en kan dus heerlijk koken, we hebben 's avonds vaak in het hotel gegeten. Vis, vlees, lokale specialiteiten, uitstekend, top. Hij gaf ons goede tips voor de omgeving. Een super aardige, fijne kerel, vanaf het eerste moment hadden we het gevoel dat we hem al jaren kende ! Hij verleent Top service. Op het terras buiten aan de waterkant, kun je heerlijk zitten met een lekker lokaal wijntje/biertje na een lange boswandeling. Heerlijk verblijf gehad, wij gaan zeker terug.
