Hotel Helmer

We were staying in Hohenschwangua close to both castles and was told that Schwangau had plenty of restaurants. All looked pretty full so we decided to park the car and walk around the main street to find a restaurant, most places need reservations or were full, one place recommended Helmer Hotel & Restaurant which was just one street off the main road. We were lucky enough they had room. Service was good and the meal was ok. I went for the croquette and schnitzel but found I could taste the oil in both. There was a self serve salad bar which was very good. The location was ideal and the restaurant was nice and cozy. I believe there was a wedding or event going on in one of their banquet rooms.

Great hotel, Food, Experience with Hotel Helmer in Mittledorf Germany. Excellent Apple Strudel, minutes drive to Neuschwanstein Castle, close to Mountain Zugspitze (Highest mountain in Germany). This is a great family run hotel and very family friendly.

Good: - beautiful hotel and rooms - clean and large rooms - good breakfast Bad: - tv on the smaller size and no streaming - music during the breakfast (90’s pop) was totally out of theme with the Tiroler hotel All in all, well run hotel that’s very tastefully decorated and with a decent kitchen. Just the finishing touch is still missing at the moment.

This was one of the best if not the best hotel we’ve had the pleasure of staying in. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Not to speak of the view, our room had probably the most scenic view one can expect from any hotel. The staff was always friendly, happy to help and assist. The restaurant is not only homely they also created some of the most delicious food we had during our 2 week vacation in Germany. We can only recommend this hotel, nobody will regret staying at the Helmer Hotel. Danke Helmer Hotel für eine wundervolle Woche.

This was our second stay at the Helmer in three months, so it should tell you everything that we returned. The rooms are very clean and well appointed, the staff is extremely helpful, and the restaurant is top-not h.

What a fantastic gem of a hotel. Really lovely girls on reception. Lovely staff throughout. Great food and beers. Nothing was too much trouble. Safe secure parking. Free push bike use to go and see the castle and surrounding areas. There’s a wonderful toboggan ride/luge near by. Loads of bars and things to do. I plan on booking a stay at Hotel Helmer as soon as we get back from this road trip. Excellent hotel.

My husband and I with our 4 kids (ages 13, 12, 10,and 8) have been coming to Hotel Helmer for over 20 years. We have been stationed in Germany twice and every time we wanted a vacation in Bavaria, we come here. At the foothills of the Alps, it is close enough to go by foot or by bike to tourist attractions, yet a village away from all the hustle and bustle of tourists. We enjoyed using the complimentary bikes to bike on the paths along the Forgensee, in the fields between Schwangau and Schloss Neuschwannstein, and to the town of Fuessen and even into Austria. Their breakfast is superb, not only do they offer the typical Bavarian spread, but they also offer American favorites, scrambled eggs, hot bacon and sausage. My kids really enjoyed the nutella dispenser! They offer dinner every night for guests if we choose (which is also fantastic) or we can go to another restaurant in the village within walking distance. They serve an assor**ent of delectable cakes, pies, coffee, wine and beer from 2-4 every day and of course, you have to have a piece of apple struedel! The rooms are super clean, spacious bathrooms, and friendly staff. We enjoyed staying in their apar**ent with 2 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, and a living room with a table and a sofa bed and 2 balconies. It was perfect for our family of six! We always have so many wonderful memories at Hotel Helmer! You will not want to miss it! Tiffany Ellis

All around great hotel. Wonderful wheelchair accessible room with nice balcony. Nice breakfast in attractive dining area. Friendly staff. Great place to stay. However we personally found the neuschwanstein castle to be a disappoin**ent with a very rushed and short tour. Not a very friendly place and felt like a tourist trap.
