Blue House B&B

Very cute house. It is not in the city , but I loved staying outside of the capital! It's also not far to walk to the city. (I met other people who did, but with a child it would be a little far.). Also, being outside of the city gives you a taste of a smaller town. There is a small hot spring near the house and the town has an amazing pool!

He had a really nice stay in Grótta Northern Lights Apar**ent. The apar**ent was lovely with ocean view,a place to sit outside, a dining area and a private bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. I recommend this apar**ent if you like more privacy. The owner is very kind and friendly. Very easy check in and check out process. Just breakfast needs a little improvement and cookware in the kitchen looked too used. In general we loved our stay and would come back! Thank you

Horrible experience my last night in Iceland. First of all I booked paying extra to cancel but when I tried canceling it was denied. I made a mistake booking this place. It’s a house in a residential area. The decor, furniture, everything is old. The rooms are small, bedding is old. Toilet moves entirely in upstairs bathroom, very unnerving. No room darkening curtains. Other people in the house are loud at 11 pm talking and laughing when trying to sleep. Ugh, horrible experience, highly recommend to pay a bit more for a decent place.

Stayed here in October on our last day! Nice place, cozy and quiet. Not too far from shopping district. Good if you have a rental car. Would stay here again if we go back!

The snaefellness room smelled bad. Others people commented on the smell but I didn’t believe them. I would never recommend this place to anyone it was below average for Iceland. The bed was old and so were the pillows. It really was like a hostel. The woman working the desk was great. She made it better experience.

We had low expectations for this place and it was still disappointing. We booked a bed and breakfast but they do not serve breakfast unless you pay extra. It was too expensive so we went to the only open bakery nearby. Place seems to be run by unpaid interns. The house is about an hour walk from downtown. The house is poorly soundproofed so we woke up every couple of hours to people coming in and out even though I’m a heavy sleeper and was super tired. Would not stay here again. Feels like a landlord scheme.

Be aware of the practice of this hotel. 1/they charge you about ten days before you check in even though the ******* receipt says you only need to pay on arrival. If you don’t want to pay that early they threat to cancel your booking. If you ask them to show you the ******* listing where it says this policy they would only say it is their policy. 2/ they would sell you to a different hotel. In our case we were asked to stay at Grotta northern light hotel. We didn’t even step into the blue house hotel. 3/the beddings in the grotta hotel were so worn and they smelled stinky - particularly the pillows. The bathroom was so dirty - the house overall was a bit run down. 4/ if you book two nights with them they will arrange you in two different hotels. In our case we complained and requested to stay in the same room which they eventually agreed.

Our family stayed in a separate 2 bedroom apar**ent (Green House), which was 1 min walk from the main building (Blue House), for 5 nights. Green House got its own kitchen with small fridge, bathroom and toilet. Green House was very warm though we thought it would even be better if the light could be brighter. There was lots of snow this year and the kids liked playing snow in the garden. There was a storm on our second day. The electricity wire was badly hit by the storm and Green House was out of power. The host Melania was very kind and arranged our family to go to Blue House for cooking . Melania also tried her best to arrange repair as soon as possible. After 12 hours in the storm, electricity in Green House resumed. We also liked the breakfast in Blue House. It was also a great experience to chat with guests from different countries during the breakfast time. We were also fortunate enough to take some aurora pictures in the garden just outside the Green House. We would recommend this B&B to others. Even we were not driving, we could walk around 5 to 10 minute to no.11 bus stop and went to the city centre. Great services and nice stay. Thank you Melania.
