Just returned from a 2 week stay at the Jaz Mitabel Beach Resort. The room although tired looking was fine with a pool view and reasonably clean with fresh towels and clean bedding every day. On day three water started to leak from the ceiling down along the light fittings and switches. After 6 hours the engineer came to review and sort. The issue was related somehow to the air conditioning system and after speaking to other guests is quite a common problem. The staff in the hotel were always polite and friendly but it was clear many of them had the expectation of receiving tips if they did anything to support you no matter how small. The worst part about the holiday was the food as if you have a sensitive stomach at all you will end up with diarrhoea and severe stomach cramps very quickly and in my case this lasted for 9 of the 14 days we were there. After taking loperamide with no success and my symptoms getting worse I got spasmocure and spasmodigistin tablets recommended by the pharmacist which eventually started to make a difference . There were many other holiday makers who suffered the same symptoms after eating in the restaurant. It is also important to be aware that check out is 12.00 midway and unless you are happy to pay £120.00 to extend your checkout you can be stuck for hours in the reception area waiting to be picked up for the airpirt if your flight is in the evening. You can ask for a courtesy room apparently but the reality is very different when you do in regards to its availability. I would definitely not rate this resort as 5 star as the food definitely lets it down.
