The Pridwin Hotel

There was a good deal so my finance and I decided to go for a few days. The staff were not well trained, the food was extremely mediocre (we had to send stuff back which I never do), the A/C in the rooms is very noisy that we couldn't sleep. We thought this would be a cute place but unless the rooms are going for $300 or less its not worth. Don't let the pretty pictures fool you.

This was one of the worst hotel experiences of my entire life. The rooms were dirty, the staff was rude and it was overall a very unpleasant experience. Each room smelled like vape pens and there was a buzzing sound from the air all night we couldn’t sleep. The food at the hotel was a C+ at best

Overall the Pridwin was a positive experience. The view is gorgeous (that’s definitely what you’re paying for) and there are plenty of spaces around the hotel to hang out and enjoy the water. The staff were generally nice and efficient and helped us with activities like kayaking. Our room was comfortable (although it could have used a desk) and recently renovated. The hotel itself seemed like it had recently been redone, and though I didn’t love every design detail, overall they did a good job preserving the historic feel. I’m taking one point off for the food at the restaurant which was hit or miss. Some dishes (like the branzino) were delicious and really well done. Others were flat out awful. We had tagliatelle that was so tasteless and overcooked it clumped up into little bits inside the dish. We ordered an expensive steak as well which was overcooked and had very little flavor. The price point is outrageous for what you’re getting, and we heard other diners at nearby tables complaining about how bad some of the dishes were, and how small the portions of wine. Accept that you’re essentially paying for the view. (Pro tip: for a good meal, head down the street to Chez Marie). I’m taking another point off for general lack of attention to detail. My partner and I wanted to go for a bike ride… but none of the bikes worked. They have a beautiful new sauna in the spa area… but there were no towels in the men’s locker room and no staff anywhere to be seen on the first floor. We enjoyed a game of backgammon after dinner… but it was missing some of the pieces. I could go on. There are lots of staff everywhere, but it’s not clear if anyone is paying attention to the holistic guest experience. Again, at the price point I would expect a bit more.

Although a new look and feel, the hotel is in the verge of feeling more like an assisted living Oasis versus a weekend escape . We came the week before the Memorial Day holiday and unfortunately the experience showed flaws of a “we just opened” vibe. For the price point one would expect the attention of a fully bustling hotel regardless of the season. Staff- starting here as they were amazing. Once you get them comfortable to drop the weird formality (assuming part of the training), they are in top of it and made sure all our requests were met. We felt for them in their over the top costume-y wardrobe as well. The hotel- could do without some of the additions. TVs throughout make it feel cheaper than what they are trying to pull off experience wise. The music could also do with a contemporary spin, it’s really “on theme” with a golden oldies playlist. The food- missing flavor and flair for the price point. Much of it lacked seasoning with the emphasis they put in the descriptions and presentation. Shout out to Chez Marie just down the road who delivered on great taste without the fluffy service model. All in all- if they laxed the model slightly, they might be on par with many of the newly renovated hotels we’ve stayed at playing up the same aesthetic. As a new generation becomes a majority customer, it’s something to deeply consider.

Wow!! Couldn't believe our eyes upon reaching the property. The most beautiful water views directly across from the grounds, you have water views from almost anywhere on site. We stayed in a waterview room which was standard, a step up from most economical and it was more than enough for a couple with perfect direct water views even from laying down on the bed. Cannot put into words how beautiful the grounds are, from the fire pit area, terrace restaurant, and pool, water views everywhere and view of Pridwin. Plenty of property to walk around and enjoy, and although on island- a lot to do at the property. Tennis courts, pool, nook, game room, bar/lounge, firepits, etc. We sat on the terrace outside although a little chilly couldn't beat the view. The bar inside is very unique and has a retro feel. Everything reminded us of the movie the Parent Trap meets Dirty Dancing. Old school estate with glamping feel. Hannah, Jack, Pascal and Lawrence at the desk were so friendly and helpful during our stay and will go out of their way to make sure you're enjoying yourself. Can't wait to go back!

This restored resort has everything you need for a peaceful, relaxing getaway . The location is beautiful across the street from the beach. The main building has a great porch where you can relax by a fireplace and have drinks. They also have a pool and tennis courts and bicycles to explore the beautiful island. The meals are wonderful as well. They also have cottages with private decks and gas fireplaces if you want more privacy. The staff is very friendly and helpful and accommodating to make your stay very enjoyable.

What a beautiful property!! Recently renovated and sparkling in every area. Gorgeous light filled corner room facing the Bay. Dining on porch with lovely view and very good food. Lovely staff, though front desk seemed new and not aware of what activities were available, though listed on the welcome letter. Small frustration that the spa was closed as the only masseuse was sick for the whole week. But, hotel's private boat took us for lunch at Sag Harbour, at no charge!? Wonderful and can't wait to return!

While staying at Baron’s Cove in Sag Harbor, the sister property to the Pridwin, reciprocal use of properties is offered. One day of our stay we spent an afternoon poolside at the absolutely gorgeous Pridwin!! We fell in love with this charming and place, and will definitely book here in the future. Usually there is a free boat shuttle to the Pridwin, though sadly not running the days of our stay. The food at the restaurant is very good with an ample selection of choices. The staff..especially Jillian at the bar were very friendly and helpful!! Really enjoyed our time here!!

DO NOT CHOOSE THIS HOTEL!!! Huge Disappointment!! We reserved several cabins 13 months in advance for a family 60th Birthday Celebration. Pridwin was happy to capture the down payment ( and collect interest on our money ). I did not reserve these cabins through the general reservation line. I am a world traveler with extensive experience booking hotels. I called the front desk ( manager ) to inquire about availability of the cabins we desired. We had very specific requests to accommodate our guests. The front desk manager informed me the weekend we selected was wide open with the specific cabins we had selected. He went through each and every cabin’s availability. He also shared that wedding reservations had to be secured 12 months in advance which none were on the books at that time. He assured me if we secured the cabins it was not a problem to be concerned with. First come, first serve! Ironically, that was not accurate! On September 7th over one month after I secured cabins for $30,000 for a three night stay)… $15K paid in a deposit, I received a call from the event planner ( Terri ) who was charged with telling me they had made a “mistake”. She tried to claim an error had occurred in their online reservation service. When I told her I had actually called the front desk of that specific hotel personally to make reservations, she was in quite a kerfuffle. She talked in circles which only validated her lies. Bottom line, Pridwin will cancel you on a dime for a better paying reservation. I had received emails from the concierge about reserving spa reservations and other activities. Hard to believe this was an innocent mistake. I’d give zero stars if it was an option. I would 100% suggest you look at other lovely hotels. The Pridwin will break your heart or disappoint you in more ways than one!
