May 15-16, 2024 From the moment we saw photos of this special place on the internet, we knew we had to stay here! The natural rock onsen baths caught our imagination - and our stay was wonderful beyond expectations! The resort is located in a forested valley is stunning, next to a rushing river. Natural mountain hot spring water is channeled into 7 lovely outdoor onsen baths, as well as ensuite baths. The facility is beautifully designed with gardens and multi-level suites, with each of the levels looking out to the river, with plenty of seating to enjoy the relaxing and lovely views. We were treated with limitless thoughtful hospitality from the moment we arrived, to the moment we left - in fact, one of our group kept commenting ”the y[the staff] must think we're really special!”. The suite was beautifully appointed with tatami mats, traditional Japanese decor, comfortable beds, yukata and slippers are provided along with tabi socks and plenty of clean linens. Our suite had its own private onsen bath encircled by natural stones, and constantly running hot spring water. Such a contrast to water-parched California and even Hawaii where we're from! The outdoor onsens are open all night, for viewing of the starry night sky. The kaiseki dinner was exceptional, with many many delicious small plates, each exquisitely prepared and presented - a petite, freshly caught local fish was skewered as if swimming and roasted in a salt shell. Utterly delicious! In the morning, after a similarly wonderful breakfast, we experienced a mochi-pounding session with the hotel staff and guests joining in - lots of fun - photos were provided! Transportation - It was a challenge figuring out how to get to this place - finally, we had a Japanese-speaking hotel clerk call the resort, and got instructions for the 1-hour bus ride from Takayama bus station to Shinhotaka Onsen / Nakao Kou-gen-guchi. There are buses running every hour! We walked to the resort from the bus stop when we arrived, and a shuttle van to the bus stop was thoughtfully provided by the resort when we left. สถานี Nohi bus ใกล้มากๆ เลี้ยวซ้ายตรงร้านเบอร์เกอร์ ข้ามถนน เดินไปทางซ้ายมือ ถึงแยกเลี้ยวขวา จะเห็นป้าย รร.ไปง่ายมาก รร.ดูเก่าแต่สะอาดมากกกกก ห้องน้ำเพียงพอ มีกาแฟ มัชฉะ ชงดื่มตลอด24ชม มีห้องครัวทำอาหาร พื้นที่ในห้องเก็บกระเป๋ากว้าง ที่นอนสะอาด นุ่ม นอนสบาย พัก3คืนขึ้นไป ฟรี ซักและอบผ้า ใกล้ตลาด ร้านอาหารซูปเปอร์ Family mart ประทับใจมาก มีโอกาสจะไปพักอีก

My partner and I really enjoyed the 2 nights stay here. The hosts were very friendly, even though they cannot speak English very well, they made effort to make the guests feel like home. I did find the water in the private hot springs is too hot to enjoy, but i really like the decoration and the setting of the public bath. Breakfast and dinner were very beautiful and tasty, I particularly like the tofu soup in breakfast.

跟日本一般商旅比，空間寬敞，很有懷舊日式風情，相對意味設施較老舊些，但環境頗為乾淨，飯店內也有男、女湯可泡，喜歡泡早湯的朋友可在0930前使用，飯店就在濃飛巴士站後方（步行約2分鐘），退房時，因為活動範圍在平湯周遭，所以飯店很貼心讓我們寄放行李（申し訳ありませんが、私たちは303号室のテナントで、高山行きのバスに乗らなければならないので、カウンターのスタッフが見つからないときは、自分で預けた荷物を持って行き、カウンターにメッセージを残しました、ありがとう!），另外這件飯店是屬於別館，入住時會給一張（每人）本館的泡湯卷，本館位於濃飛巴士站正前方（步行約3分鐘），本館湯池有室內及室外，室外湯池造景優美，泡湯當晚氣溫較低又下著雨，泡湯感覺更為舒爽，下次有機會會再造訪

過春節的時候入住的，隔了好久才評論，也是想給定這家温泉酒店的客人做個參考。由於冬天去的，還遇上十年一遇的雪災，回名古屋衹有JR可以做，有點狼狽。但是酒店在一片白色雪的環境下，讓人放鬆自在。温泉有個一個大的公用的温泉，是室內的池子，還有室外的，但是太冷了，不想嘗試。另外還有2個私湯也是室外，怕冷沒去。温泉是真温泉，沒有漂白粉的味道，就是温泉的怪怪的味道。而且是直掛的，一直有水流出。因為入住後就洗洗泡了下，之後晚上又去了一次，發現物品都整理歸位好了。晚上出來的時候發現前台小姐姐抱着物品走進去整理，感覺服務真的到位啊。晚飯很不錯，量非常大！早飯有點不適合我這個中國胃，冷食居多，日式特色吧。還有晚飯是在大廳集中吃的，應該開了地暖，整個空間非常暖和，要知道外面鵝毛大雪冷的狠啊。然後走的時候前台還會提醒回高山的班車時間，服務比城市裡酒店的好太多了。可能言語不通，需要翻譯器，溝通沒那麼流暢，但基本沒啥問題。不過酒店真的算在荒郊野外，前不着村後不着店的。離店站在站台等大巴的時候真的有點怕怕的，靠山的1號站台（8:14那班）還有個熊出沒的標誌，嚇**了。也是因為大雪，班車大巴沒有準時到，晚了20分鐘，等的我都焦慮死了，腦子裡已經瘋狂想着各種對策，還好大巴慢慢的開過了，真鬆了口氣。整體的温泉酒店一泊兩食行程還是很滿意。

Good value hostel in the centre of Takayama, only 5 minutes walking from the train station and Nohi bus stop. Even though there is no staff at the hostel, we met them at the reception at the main hotel nearby and we were explained everything in detail. The hostel is spotless and has all spaces well organized. The showers at the first floor are completely new and are well equipped with so many toiletries available, even safety boxes and skin creams! The kitchen is well equipped too even though we only used the microwave. Our twin room was comfortable, we had clean sheets and towels, heating and hangers. The only downside I can think of are the thin walls, you can hear other guests downstairs too.

Koyo is a nice petite onsen. There is free private onsen which can cater 2 ppl. I really enjoy it since I am not used to bathing with others. They have a few different onsen, go and enjoy… The food (dinner and breakfast) were really good …yummy yum The only thing I’m want to comment is the insuite bathroom, it was really small…no hook and place for you to put your stuffs…… It was just so mini..

This place was absolute amazing! By far our favorite place from our whole trip. The location was absolutely perfect for the Takyama festival. We were literally right there with shops and street vendors 50 yards away and the parades would have been right there as well if they weren't canceled due to rain. The rooms were humble and traditional and really added to the experience. The tea in the room was exceptionally good and the traditional Japanese breakfast they served was also delicious and fun to eat. We didn't even know they had a legitimate hot spring on site, but they did! They are Japanese style baths so be ready for that, but the water was therapeutic and so relaxing. I cant recommend this place enough and I would absolute make it a point to visit Takyama and stay here again for a few days on our next trip to Japan. They were such great kind hosts. And I cant believe the price, what an great value. Do yourself a favor and stay here. I'm not sure why the other bad reviews are here I read some of them and they sound like entitled stupid American tourists so ignore them and stay here.
