The Mountain House, and the others that followed, like the Hotel Kaaterskill and the Laurel House, attracted Twain, Sherman, Presidents Arthur and Grant, along with nobility and notables from all over the world.This is the real Catskill Mountains, not the vacation areas in the foothills to the southeast that long ago misappropriated the name. Palenville is 15 minutes from everything you want.Our family including a friendly lab mix lives in themain house is across the drive from the cottage so we will be your neighbors. That said, we respect your privacy and need for solitude and leave it up to the guests as far as interaction goes.You will have full private use of the entire cottage/guest house which is equipped with bathroom, kitchen, and two bedrooms. You will also have private access to your own patio, fire pit and BBQ. The hot tub and outdoor sauna are shared with owner but renters have priority and we generally only use if you are out. The greater yard, sun deck, and small trail that runs through the property are shared space, please enjoy, and clean up after your pets if they are with you.
