Hotel Stern

Clean and decent, basic old place. Yes it's overpriced, but every hotel in Germany is. Separate restaurant on the street front serves breakfast and all meals, is run by v nice people. Also two main tram lines in the street - ask for a room at the back! And it's only two stops from Wilhelmina ...

Was advertised as having en-suite rooms and were booked because of that. Only had one shared shower on the floor.

We only stayed for one night, however, I regretted even that. Already at our arrival we were confronted with strange jokes by the receptionist. The room was okay for the price. I could not see the bed bugs mentioned by many. However, the bathroom was so dirty that I had to use the bathroom on another floor. In addition, the hotel is very noisy and the guests in the next room were very loud into the night.

Nice and simple, great location

DO NOT STAY HERE. the place was infested with BED BUGS. The hotel is clearly aware of this as there are splatters of blood all over the walls. I was told I’d hear back about a full refund on the day of our stay but almost a week later and haven’t heard a thing! I stayed here with with my family, a 1 year old, we couldn’t contact anyone past 10pm and had to stand up the whole night or get bitten. Disgusting

You get what you pay for and this is a budget level Hotel on the fringes if the city so don’t expect much. The rooms are tired but functional and the shared bathroom was ok but tired. If you don’t expect much other than a bed and a place to shower close to the city then this is fine

Review Having found what turns out to be the cheapest hotel in Stuttgart, it feels remiss of me to complain about the state of the place. After all, for €26 Euros per night, we weren’t expecting silk-pillow luxury… If you are lucky enough to get a room on the top floors, be careful not to trip over any of the piles of wood/rubbish/mattresses that are scattered in the stair wells. The words ‘dilapidated’ and ‘tired’ do some justice to describe the state of our room; Parts of the skirting board had been glued back on; 4 pitifully small boiled sweets were left on our beds as a (welcome?) gift; both lamp shades were struggling to serve as lamp shades (one full of cracks and the other falling apart and hanging off the wall); a fairly dirty shared bathroom; an old picture was left on top of the wardrobe as it wasn’t fit for the wall; the bed would make Ikeas cheapest range look expensive. Despite its teething issues, it all adds to the tatty, no expense-spared experience. The 3 plastic meerkats and coffee machine at the entrance were an added bonus and made me smile after 4 hours sleep in the past 40. As an added bonus, it says ‘free parking’ on the description but in reality you have to scout out the surrounding streets (which are free to be fair) in hope of finding a space.
