it is a wonderful place to stay, we loved walking around the property exploring the old school, listening to birds singing, and of course loved our clean room and comfy bed! Shane was super helpful and contacted us about some books the kids left behind and sent them back to us. It is not only a resort but also a museum, we loved every bit of it!

Very interesting place away from the busyness of life. 5 ladies and they had some lovely rooms with balconies. Good size rooms. My King deluxe Studio had windows which faced into public deck/outdoor area which I didn’t care to open (no view or fresh air). The history of the place was interesting and the chapel was lovely for weddings. Resturant is not functioning at present, buy food before you arrive.

I was not given the room I booked- it was remarkably smaller, less beds and no view The toilet was not entirely clean The person on duty was not wearing a mask Condiments and coffee plunger also missing Otherwise an amazing place to stay with a lot of history and beautiful grounds

Firstly the buildings and surrounds were beautiful, the room we stayed in was big, warm and modern. However, the restaurant has been closed for a long time apparently, so I phoned ahead to ask what cooking facilities would be there. I was told just a microwave so I should bring my own “finger food”. When we arrived I saw there was actually a hot plate, microwave and and a bench top /cooker oven in our room/ but no pots/pans to enable cooking. Our email confirmation from the hotel said that because the restaurant was closed, a continental breakfast would be available- when I asked about this I was told no it wasn’t. The friendly Asian lady that checked us in and provided this information - also checked in an Asian family directly opposite our room. It was surprising to see they had been delivered a meal - as a plate with a lid on was outside their room in the evening. I wouldn’t stay again, I would choose somewhere closer to the town, with food options for my family.

A great stay in the countryside. Nicely done and very tranquil. The rooms are a great size and clean and pleasant. Nice grounds.easy to find and about ten minutes from Oamaru and five minutes from Kakanui beach.

Stunning location, great food and the hospitality was outstanding. Will definitely use this venue again in the future for our corporate meetings. The location was serene, with no distractions and noise - nice and quiet. The catering was amazing - very pleased with our experience.
