It was great. The room was quirky but lovely. All amenities were provided. Staff in the bar, reception and at breakfast were extremely professional

Warm and friendly welcome, efficient and friendly service. All meals were excellent and the restaurant and bar extremely pleasant places to eat. We especially liked the small corner identified as the library - a nice touch.

The Close is an upmarket beautiful 16th century hotel, having staff who are all extremely friendly, helpful and courteous. We were upgraded on arrival to a superb larger room than we had booked. The food was very good, both evening meal and breakfast. We cant fault this hotel and look forward to staying there again in the future.

Friendly and helpful staff. Great conditions even though the building is hundreds years old. I thought parking is hard to find but Google maps gives the precise location. Otherwise it might be a bit difficult to find the parking lot behind the hotel

Fantastic hotel with excellent staff -Nigel, Charlotte and our wonderful waitress whose name escapes me - ugh! Fabulous location in a town full of lovely people!

Good comfortable room, shaving light/mirror not working. Nice shower and bath.Good tea coffee and biscuits. Needs a teapot or mugs instead of tea cups. Excellent breakfast but cooked orders a bit sloe.Good value deal on *******.

We stayed here with our friends on Saturday 21st as my husband and I are looking to potentially relocate around this area. The hotel situation amazing, the parking is a bit of an issue tho. The welcome and service throughout was perfunctory not necessarily overly friendly. We didn’t feel the love or passion from the seemingly stressed out staff. That said no-one was rude but neither did anyone really stand out. We dined in the restaurant in the evening and the food was exceptional, chateaubriand cooked to our exact preference - fillet steaks for our friends - all perfect. Breakfast was a great choice of options and very nice. On departure again all very perfunctory and cheerless and we weren’t even asked how our stay was. Bizarre

The staff were very helpful and friendly and the room was lovely. Nice decor and the en-suite bathroom was exceptionally clean.
I would highly recommend this hotel.
