Hostel Roots

nice hostel. Staff were very helpful in accommodating a request of mine. The vibe was quite social. Dorm room was very spacious. There was an ensuite but also shared bathrooms available. Main disappointment was that there were no privacy curtains in my dorm. Also the kitchen facilities weren't great.

REVIEW OF MY STAY IN HOSTEL ROOTS TINY HOUSE (which is located off the premises of the primary Hostel Roots location -- contact them for more information) ------------ My stay in the Hostel Roots Tiny House was absolutely fabulous! The amenities were top-notch and the accommodations were spectacular! I chose the Tiny House over the primary location of Hostel Roots because I wanted my "own place" (private) for the duration of my stay. You check in at their primary location on Stationsstraat. They provide you with a binder full of information about your stay, your key, and plenty of coupons to local businesses. The primary location has a common area with lots of board games, a friendly staff, a pool table and a basement bar! If you need them to hold your luggage for a period of time, they are also more than happy to do so. As you enter your tiny house (they have a total of two tiny houses) and turn the corner, you're greeted with your room, complete with an intimate balcony overlooking the street, sidewalk, and foileage (landscaping) and a almost a full kitchen (sink, induction cooktop/stove, refrigerator/freezer, and a full assortment of plates, utensils, pots, pans, and more! The balcony provides light and a small sofa to set on as you peer over the railing. There of course is also your own bathroom and shower. All the amenities worked without any issue. There are plenty of electrical outlets, lights, and USB charging ports. There is no air conditioning, but that was not a problem, even in August! However, there is a fan that you can plug in and use. Coffee (a Nespresso machine w/ coffee pods) and a various assortment of tea is provided complimentary. I slept incredibly well all 4 nights I stayed there at the end of August, 2024. I was able to store some things I picked up at the supermarket in the refrigerator and experienced no problems using the cooktop/stove. The shower provided plenty of room to move around in, so it did not feel like you were packed in a sardine can/tin.

Great location and cleanliness was exceptional but falls short on facilities. A typical hostel has some basic kitchen facilities, not even a kettle available to make 2min noodles or a cup of tea. Also advertises as a family facility but The family rooms as located right next to staff rooms with staff coming & going all Night and talking on the phone at all hours of ‘quiet time’

Came here for an ACAPA Audition! Great because it's not too far from the train station and the university where the audition was. Super friendly staff. And nearly no noise from the road. Showers pretty clean. However, I did find bugs in the bed and sometimes the cards would stop working and prevent us to come in.( I was in a shared dorm room with some other people who auditioned and was not the only one to have this problem. Overall good stay, just sis not like the bugs.

Had a really great stay at Hostel Roots. We had chosen this place as it was near enough to the Efteling theme park while still getting to see a bit of Tilburg. We had a private room for our family of 4 (kids 10-12yrs) . The room was very clean and welcoming, beds comfy, interior design cool. The staff were super friendly and helpful. There were activities like a pool table, piano, darts and shuffle board to entertain our kids. We had a lovely breakfast in the morning. We were able to park our car in their little carpark for a little extra $. All in all a great stay! Thanks a lot Hostel Roots team! We'll be back.

Had a wonderful stay here for three days in a private room. The room had three beds but I had it all to myself, with a private terrace to boot. The staff were wonderful and made the place feel like family. I opted for a deluxe breakfast on one of the days and it was like getting a home-cooked meal.
