We arrived in Tokamachi on the local Hokuhoku line from Echigo Yuzawa. It was a wonderful, high-grade hotel, just as we expected, recommended by a wealthy friend. It's only an hour's drive from Echigo Yuzawa, which is now very crowded in the winter, and it's a little hidden away, but who would have thought that such a wonderful place would exist... It was an incredibly beautiful hotel. After a soak in the bath, we had dinner in the dining room, from which we could see the snowy scenery that spreads out from the entrance of the inn. The room was spacious and clean. Lovely! Jenga and board games were available to borrow for free, so we had a great night getting drunk. Breakfast was prepared by local ladies and included a variety of small dishes with Niigata rice! It was a fantastic trip with a full stomach.

If you're staying overnight, we recommend a room at Tanadakan. The modest course meal was perfect for the elderly. And, from the open-air bath early in the morning, you can really see the sea of ​​clouds and it's enchanting! This is a view you can only see if you stay overnight. Although it didn't have the luxury of a luxury inn, the service was just right and the staff were kind and pleasant. The transportation from the station was flexible and I was very satisfied with the reasonable price. It can also be used as a day trip hot spring, so you can stay even after checking out without any additional charges.
