Castle in the Country

My husband and I stayed for our 1 year wedding anniversary June 7-9, 2024. Pros: friendly and knowledgable staff that greets you upon arrival. Very imformative and simple check process. The use of the paddleboats and kayaks and hiking ground on the property were all a lovely added touch! The innkeeper also provided a list of things to do in the nearby areas including wineries, restaurant, etc. and we took full advantage of their recommendations which did not dissapoint. Cons: The room was not as clean as expected. We found at least 4 bugs in the room upon arrival, torn and old rags/towels and the water from the sink and shower smelled terrible. We also booked the "garden dome" with a bottle of wine and charcuterie. Again, for the price ($200) to rent the dome, I expected a lot more than a dirty, hot dome that looked like it hadn't been cleaned or preparared at all for us. The charcuterie board was mediocre and wine was okay. For $200 I would expect a more expensive bottle at least. We stayed in the dome for 20 minutes and then got out because it was gross. You are better off not renting the dome and utilizing the free patio seating areas around the property. We were also excited to rent out the fat tire bikes but found out that was an added cost as well. Since we were already spending over $1000 for our stay we decided against renting those. Overall, we had a good time in the area and on the property but would not come back due to the uncleanliness and high prices. More cons than pros.

Ruth and her staff make you feel so welcome. They do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable We stayed in the Sir Lancelot room and were so glad we did. Hearing and seeing the wildlife out our window was very special Each breakfast was delicious and very filling. Was a great way to start our day

We went for a long weekend! The property was beautiful and the service was amazing! Great breakfasts every morning and the attention to detail was noticed!

My now husband and I picked the weekday Elopement package and stayed in the Royalty Suite June 3rd - June 5th. The suite was everything we had hoped for. It was clean, the bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. Breakfast was brought to our room which I must say, was delicious and the picnic basket full of goodies was a nice touch. The day of the ceremony, the staff handled everything making our big day stress free! Meg even got my husband to smile for a few pics which is a challenge in itself!

As we celebrate our 10 year Anniversary at the place we got married, we are so grateful in finding this place. Ruth,Herb,Spencer,Cailyn and the rest of the staff are the best. Always easy to talk to and friendly. Whether its asking a question about our stay or helping choose a place to eat they are always helpful and friendly. After 11 years of staying at Castle we always have the best time. Every stay is top notch and absolutely amazing. This is our favorite place to stay as we are always looking forward to our next visit. This place is beautiful year round, the rooms are amazing, and the breakfast is outstanding. Castle is the best, thank you for another perfect stay, see you in the fall.

My sister and I spent 1 night here on our way back from northern Michigan and found it a most wonderful stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful, room was comfortable and well equipped with everything we could want. Grounds are beautiful for a forest walk and paddle boat ride on the lake as well as evening glass of wine looking out on the pond. The massages we had were excellent and extremely relaxing. And finally breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend visiting.

Perfect romantic getaway! We purchased the romance package and it did not disappoint. The couple massage was great and the food was amazing!

My husband and I went for a weekend getaway at Castle in the Country and it did not disappoint. This was our first time staying at the bed and breakfast. The communication we received pre-visit was very helpful. Specifically the staff will confirm your arrival time, answer any questions you may have, and confirm the next-day's breakfast menu with you. We arrived after 5:00 pm (and although staff was still working) the instructions we received would have been easy to understand had we not be able to speak with the staff. We stayed in the Jewel Box room which is located on the third floor of the Castle Building. The room was excellent and very very clean. The Castle Building has several nice amenities such as free coffee, hot chocolate, and snacks. It is a short walk to the Castle Keep Building (which you can drive to if you want) which is where breakfast is served. There are trails in back of Castle Keep which were fun to explore. As far as breakfast is concerned, I cannot say enough good things. The food was excellent...5 stars! Spencer and Caitlyn were top notch to work with. Spencer checked us in and was able to answer all of our questions. Caitlyn greeted us at breakfast and was available at Castle Keep. The staff provide excellent recommendations for surrounding restaurants. Our weekend itinerary included the following: - Friday night dinner in Allegan at Schaendorf Brewing Company. - Saturday we spent exploring Holland. We ate lunch at Bowerman's on 8th. [If you love blueberries this is the place for you.] - Saturday evening we ate dinner at The Mitten Brewing Co. in Saugutuck. [This is a very small restaurant so I recommend checking their hours and arriving early as seating is very limited. You can order to-go food if needed.] We were not disappointed in the dining both at Castle in the Country and the various restaurants we visited. I highly recommend staying at Castle in the Country. I am looking forward to our next visit!
