Hearthstanes Steading

We stayed in cottage #4 and it was lovely - extremely clean and it felt very spacious and comfortable. I loved the upstairs area (bedroom) because it was so light and bright during the day, and it was a bonus to have a (downstairs) window onto a stream with dippers and wagtails. The kitchen area is fairly small but very well equipped and easy to use. We came for hillwalking (which is great around here), but the weather wasn't entirely co-operative. It's also a good area though for castles, historic houses, tea rooms, etc.

Just returned from a great weekend at Hearthstanes Steading. From booking to arrival, communications with our host, Ralph, were friendly and helpful. On arrival we were made to feel instantly welcome. We were celebrating my husband’s 70th birthday and had two cottages, as a family, numbers two and four. Both were clean, comfortable, spacious and cosy. Our dogs were also made to feel very welcome by Ralph and Maura. We had some lovely walks on the estate and drives around this picturesque area. The bowling alley was unique with a selection of games to play against each other and immensely fun and entertaining. Also had a delicious Sunday lunch at the dog friendly Crown Inn at Biggar. We absolutely enjoyed our stay at this wonderful place and will definitely be returning. would highly recommend.

We stayed here for a week, the weather was perfect. The owners couldn't do enough for us, and were very friendly. We really enjoyed the Bbq, table tennis, bowling alley,badminton and games in the walled garden. Great place for teenagers. There are plenty of walks and lochs nearby. Peebles is worth a visit and St Mary's Loch is beautiful.

Wir hatten das Appartement für 8 Personen. Unsere Kinder waren begeistert, da jedes Kind ein Kingsize Bett hatte, mit eigenem Bad. Es war alles sehr sauber und sehr gut eingerichtet. Man hatte alles was man braucht. Draußen im Hof konnten die Kinder Tischtennis spielen und abends konnte man die Bowling Bahn mieten. Der Vermieter Ralph ist super nett, sehr hilfsbereit und kümmert sich um alles. Er ist jederzeit ansprechbar und über Handy erreichbar. Wir haben selten einen so netten Gastgeber gehabt. Die Gegend ist sehr ruhig und man kommt zur Ruhe und kann sich sehr gut erholen. Man fühlt sich sofort wohl und der Urlaub beginnt ab der 1. Minute. Man kommt auch sehr gut zu vielen Sehenswürdigkeiten von hier aus. Das einzige negative war, dass es sich nicht wie bei Tui um eine Falknerei handelt. Jedenfalls nicht mehr. Der Falkner ist seit 3 Jahren in Pension. Dies müsste bei Tui und auch bei der Homepage von Ralph vermerkt werden. Wir hatten es nämlich genau deshalb ausgesucht, weil unser Sohn diese Tiere so gerne mag und sie dann aus nächster Nähe hätte sehen können. Trotzdem fanden wir es dort insgesamt sehr schön. Etwas schwierig ist es noch mit den Wanderwegen, die gibt es nämlich nicht. Man muss sich dort eigentlich seinen eigenen Weg suchen und das ist für Ortsferne etwas schwer. Hat aber nichts mit der Unterkunft an sich zu tun.
