Knights Inn Van Horn

DOUBLE CHECK YOUR RECEIPT! On our trip from Mesa to Houston we needed a place to rest for a few hrs. We showed up just before midnight. The guy at the desk quoted me $79.00 great I’ll take it. After walking out the door I looked at my receipt and he charged me $103.94. When I turned around he was watching me. It looked as if he was waiting to see if I caught on that he over charged me. I went back in and asked why me charged me so much. He claimed it was taxes. I asked how much are taxes! I know they can’t be $30.00. He’s said oh sorry about that! And refunded me $13 and change. Besides this the bed was pretty comfortable and clean. A little outdated but fine for a short stay.

This is a good place to stop for the night and get some rest on your cross country trip. It’s not fancy, but it is clean, the management is friendly and they have a grill in the parking lot that seems to be the “meeting point” for guests to chat. My 3 stars don’t indicating issue, it rather that this place is good, but not great/excellent. VictorB

We stayed overnight on a road trip. The staff were friendly. The room was spacious and had a mini fridge and a microwave. The bathroom and some of the light fixtures seemed recently redone. Our only difficulty was that the room was very warm and not air conditioned when we first went in, but this may have been due to the short notice of our reservation.

The Knight’s Inn is a good but not excellent choice as a hotel overall. However, for a reasonably priced overnighter where a place to rest is your concern, the Inn fits the bill. It’s clean, but a bit dated and the refrigerator was noisy and had what appeared to be mildew at the back of one of the shelves. Be aware that the Inn is across the Main Street from a railroad track with nightly train traffic, as are all hotels along the street. It is loud. No breakfast and not early opening place in Van Horn. While the Inn has some downsides, I give it a “thumbs up.” For an overnighter, we’d stay there again.
