My partner and I recently enjoyed a delightful 3-night stay at Hotel Axis in Viana do Castelo. For us, a blend of convenience and tranquility was key, and this hotel nailed it with its location – just a quick 5-minute drive from the city center. Our room provided a serene space with essential amenities and a charming city view, ideal for a restful night's sleep. The unexpected highlight was the well-equipped gym, perfect for maintaining our fitness routine together. Very swish establishment, great central location, restaurant adequate but best to eat out to get the best of local cuisine.
Breakfast filling but coffee and orange juice a bit lacking in taste.

This hotel is a very large modern building. The rooms are very spacious. We ate dinner in the restaurant in the evening when it opened at eight and the food was just OK. It seemed like a typical buffet for old people. Mostly Camino people stay there, although it has a health club in it. We couldn’t get our room to cool down with the thermostat. Apparently, only the front desk can do that. We never got it cool enough to sleep well. The hotel is on the edge of town. The morning breakfast was nice.

I had a fantastic experience. The hotel is beautiful, and the staff I’ve encountered was always pleasant. The young lady that checked me in was very professional and extremely sweet, and she’s a great ambassador of yours. The food at the restaurant was delicious too, and the Spa circuit was nice. Viana is such a beautiful place. I loved going to the Monte of St. Luzia, which has breathtaking views of the river and the ocean; it’s fantastic! The only thing that needs attention is the carpets which are not bad by any means, but the normal wear and tear is noticeable. I want to come back to this property. My experience was fantastic! Thank you!

The Axis Viana hotel was very disappointing For example, despite being advertised as a ‘business hotel’ it had no easily accessible power sockets, nowhere to work and no USB ports to charge a computer. Additionally, the room lighting was extremely dark, the shower curtain leaked, the cover on the power socket in the bathroom was broken, there was no bath mat, I had a very lumpy pillow, the breakfast was very poor with the hot food barely warm

I was left a bit meh after the visit. Nothing remarkable about it. Yes it was clean and the rooms were a decent size but other than that… location was out of town so you need to account for a good 25min walk into the town center. Our check in was unremarkable and lacked interaction or Spa information which was a bit of a let down. Breakfast was good and varied which made a nice last impression.

It's an upmarket smart hotel. Modern - the floors number down from reception at level 4. Rooms very comfortable. It's location was good for us. It's across the river from the main town but then you do get the view across the river. We didn't have a lot of spare time but did venture across the metal bridge built by Eiffel - of Paris fame.
