Had a lovely 3 night stay at Kalk in room 10. Location is perfect. Room was nice and simple, but maybe a bit too plain in style for my taste. However the bed was very comfortable, which I really appreciated. The bathroom, in particular, the shower, was too small. Room 10 has a cute, small corner balcony overlooking the front of the hotel. Breakfast was good. Staff was pleasant. Overall, I would stay again but would be interested in speaking with staff to find a better suited room.

Good location in the old part of the town. This is a medium sized boutique hotel with 21 rooms. We had a light and airy room on the first floor overlooking the street. Decoration is stylish, the bed comfortable. Well equipped with TV, safe and kettle. There was sufficient space in the room but the layout of the bathroom left a lot to be desired. Although very good quality toiletries are provided, the space available is very small compared to the room. Shower space is cramped and the huge rain shower head is too large for the space so it is necessary to resort to the hand held shower if you wish to avoid wetting your hair. Because space is limited, the bathroom floor becomes wet quickly. This is a shame because every other aspect of the hotel is excellent. Breakfast has a good range of food all intricately prepared. This is not your standard hotel fare. Both reception staff we encountered during our stay were friendly and approachable and overall, we were happy with our stay here.

I booked a room for July of 2024 for a family Wedding, I tried to cancel the reservation because my family was at a different hotel and they wanted all of us to be together. HOWEVER, Kalk Hotel WOULD NOT refund my money due to the "Non-Refundable" Policy. Coming from the US for this occasion is expensive, so having the Kalk Hotel not willing to accommodate my request was very poor customer service in my opinion. Be very careful when making a reservation here.

I can't say enough about this place. First, it's in easy walking distance (10 minutes over cobblestones) of the ferry from Nynashamn. Kalk is located on a charming street beside a small section of the medieval wall that surrounds/surrounded Visby. You can walk out the door and be close to old church ruins and the town center with its many restaurants. And in the morning, you'll enjoy the best free breakfast we had in Sweden, which is saying something. The rooms are comfortable, wonderfully appointed (the tiles are made of Gotland stone with fossils) and the beds terrific. Our room on the second floor had a nice view of the charming narrow streets and houses below. Higher up (and more expensive) rooms have balconies and a view of the water, but we didn't spring for those. The service is terrific. The helpful woman at the front desk helped us arrange a car rental to visit the island of Fârö to the north, which was well worth the trip. The front desk closes after 6:00pm, but it's easy to let yourself in. If you like small, unique hotels, this is an exemplar of one. I still dream about that breakfast.

This is such a fab little hotel which despite having a small family hotel vibe, is actually really modern and stylish inside. The service staff were all lovely and so nice. Breakfast was a little different than other hotels in the best way - not a huge buffet with all the usual low cost bulk food but plenty of options at high quality. The location is great, a minute’s walk to the coast and wall walks, 5-10 min to the stora (uphill just fyi) and even directly opposite the Gotland museum. I had a terrific stay! The only thing I would have loved was either air con or fans in every room. It was unusually warm for September and as the staff go home at night time (as they should!) there’s no way to immediately resolve a warmer room at night.

Beautiful hotel, spacious like atmosphere in the heart of visby. Walking distance to all visby sights. We rented a car to explore and were lucky to get the 3 parking spots outside the hotel. Otherwise there is a paid parking lot 5 minutes away. The breakfast was quite nice and included in the price. The reception staff were all very helpful and friendly. Our only disappointment was that there was loud thumping music which kept us up since we wanted to enjoy the fresh air. After the first night, we closed the windows and were given a floor fan. I also found a white noise app on my cell phone and took some sleeping meds. Apparently we were there during a 2 week festival. We loved our stay in Bisby. It is a magical place. We stayed 3 nights.

The Kalk is a lovely, clean hotel, with nice views of the sea from some rooms. The staff is warm and helpful and the breakfast wonderful, with a chance to have a crispy Swedish waffle. Only a few things keep it from being perfect. The rooms have tea kettles but not a selection of teas, nor is there any sugar or sweetener. Also there are no tissues of any sort. You will need to use your own. Though the staff is wonderful, it feels as if there should be one more person on duty. The desk and room service - which is made in their kitchen (I suggest the beetroot salad, which was delicious) -all ends at 6pm, which means the one person on duty is very busy indeed. Otherwise the hotel is very nearly perfect.

Nice comfortable rooms. Very friendly, helpful and and professional staff. Delicious healthy breakfast including fresh bread and fruit, many nice local components. Great location- walking distance to all of Visby. A very nice place to stay!
