Hotel la Reserve

This hotel isn’t really near anything, but it was a nice place. Breakfast was nice and dinner was nice. The odd thing was that we arrived around 1430 and our room was ready, but they stopped serving lunch at 1330. As I mentioned, this place wasn’t really near anything and we couldn’t get anything to eat or drink till dinner started. I asked the staff for recommendations and they suggested Zermatt, lol. We were hiking, lol.

The hotel was under construction the day we arrived and although I had booked 6 months prior, we were unaware. The hotel also appeared to continue to advertise. More interested in making money than treating guests respectfully. The Hotel don’t care, management non responsive and appear to be deceptive. The town is quiet, not much about and further from Zermatt than anticipated. We ended up staying in Täsch, a great little hotel - Mount Time. Cheaper, across from the train station and the management team were available and helpful. The La Reserve may be nice once it’s rebuilt but be careful with Management team as they are as useful as catching a cold and treat people like fools.

I stayed at La Reserve for two nights during my hike from Chamonix to Zermatt (Walkers Haute Route). After more than a week of hiking and camping with my tent, this hotel provided food, rest and comfort, before I would take off for the final hike to Zermatt. The hotel is directly on the hiking route, just out of the village center. The owner was very helpful when I wanted to reschedule my stay. I had booked for one night, but I was hiking faster than expected, so I arrived one day early. After a phone call the owner booked me another room where I could stay an extra night. When I left two days later, I asked for a very early breakfast (I wanted to hike as early as possible) and the owner made sure everything was there for me at 6:30 a.m. The food at the restaurant was delicious. I was very happy with the possibility of having a smaller pizza with a much larger salad, as I was craving for fresh vegetables. Breakfast was in serve-yourself style, with fresh bread, cheese, eggs, yoghurt. The building and room might be somewhat outdated in style, but everything was very clean and comfortable. And there was a very good private shower! All in all this was a very pleasant stay while hiking my 10 day hike in Switzerland.

Great room, friendly staff, and the hotel has a lovely restaurant and pizzeria. We hope to come back and stay for longer next time. We arrived later than planned due to a missed train, and were late for our dinner reservation, but this was no problem at all.

After a long day hiking this was a great place to stay the night. Comfortable rooms and amazing pizza in the restaurant. A really generous breakfast. The Manager, Peter, was very welcoming. Would Definitely recommend if trekking through the Swiss Alps.

Wir haben zwei Nächte in diesem wunderbaren Haus verbringen dürfen. Einfach der Hammer! Super Empfang, herzliche Bewirtung, das Zimmer ausserordentlich sauber und preiswert, die Gastgeberin eine Wucht und das Restaurant einfach nur TOP! Wie reisen sehr oft und schätzen deshalb eine solch persönliche Location sehr. Wir werden bald wieder vorbeischauen! Und: Hunde sind herzlichst Willkommen :-)
