Hotel Adapura Wagrain

Clean and confortable ski to door hotel. However, the spa area is dissapointing, especially the massages (besides being unnecessarily expensive, I was under the impression that the person who did the massage didn’t have any clue how to do it). Good to know: if you want to cancel a massage that you booked, make sure you cancel it 24 hours in advance, otherwise you will be charged anyway.

I have been a little absent in my Tripadvisor reviews recently but I felt compelled to write this one to try and counteract a really negative one below by an account called Travelling Through. Because of that review we nearly didn’t book this hotel and I believe it is a totally unfair representation of this lovely place We booked last minute with Crystal. Transfer time is about 75 minutes - the last bit is via taxi up the mountain and we were dropped at the door. We were delighted to see friendly faces and a beautiful hotel lobby. We were given a glass of Prosecco to enjoy on arrival as we checked in. The hotel has 8 floors- we were on the 7th and it was very quiet. Each corridor has a huge thick door that is closed in the evening so you cannot hear any noise from the staircase/lift area. Our neighbours were quiet and respectful - we had no issues with noise at all during our stay. The bedroom was really lovely- huge king size bed with two separate duvets. Nespresso machine, kettle, mini fridge. Lots of storage space. Really spacious balcony with a view down the valley for us. The bathroom was beautiful- walk in shower, his and hers sinks and a separate toilet area with a door. Evening meals are served in a variety of areas depending on the day and you can choose from a minimum of two every day. You reserve a slot at breakfast. Piazza is the Italian restaurant - massive salads, meats, cheeses etc to start followed by pasta, pizza made fresh throughout the evening. Pura Alm is more traditional Austrian cuisine with a variety of local dishes available and something for everyone. Adasia is obviously Asian food with delicious fresh sushi served first and then lots of options including customised dishes made on the hot grill with ingredients of your choice. There were desserts and fresh bread at all the restaurants plus a good wine list and really lovely attentive severs. The food is mainly self serve but it is really fresh and constantly replenished. You never feel like you are having leftovers. We didn’t get to eat at the Place to Meat restaurant - this is not included in half board but you do get a discount as a hotel guest. Breakfast is another delightful affair with everything you could want- fresh fruit, cereals, smoked salmon, croissants, hot options and made to order omelettes, fried eggs etc. The hotel is 2-3 mins walk from the Grafenberg lifts and a few minutes walk into the town centre. The shuttle buses stop is also very close if you want to use it to travel elsewhere. We opted to get the bus home a couple of times and enjoyed apres ski at the bottom of the flying Mozart lift. The bus takes 4 minutes. There is an amazing post ski snack selection available 3-4.30pm at the hotel with soup, sandwiches, salad and sweet items available. Don’t miss this bit- we only discovered it after 4 days! Really unexpected and a great touch The wellness area is also of very high standard. There is a decent sized pool that opens at 7am

This is a 4* in appearance and furnishings only. Change your hotel asap or prepare to be disappointed. We stay in 4* ski hotels all over Austria and have always been extremely happy with the service. Some memorable ones include Elisabeth Hotel, Mayhofern and Hotel Riml, Hochgurgl which stand out as miles above this hotel in quality of service. All previous hotels we have tipped generously and recommended to others. How different this hotel is. The motto/slogan of this hotel should be ‘not possible’ as that seems to be their reply to everything. Need a good nights sleep? Not possible. Bedding, pillows and towels are poor quality, rough and itchy. The type that you would find at a backpacking hostel. Zero soundproofing in the rooms. No bedroom door lock. You can hear everything that is happening in the corridor that echos loudly. Adults shouting at midnight and kids screaming running down the corridor at 6am. We slept badly every night and were constantly woken up. Asked for ear plugs and alternative sheets - ‘not possible’. Like good food? Not possible. The buffet food tastes like frozen, bulk food. Spring rolls and pre fab food that you would find at a kids birthday party. Told to pay extra, despite paying for half board, for new year eve dinner. We ate elsewhere and found some great hotels and restruants in the surrounding villages. Highly recommend Hotel Wagrainerhof, Bergdorf Prechtlgut, Restaurant Goldhirsch, Starchen Stadl. Do not recommend that you eat at Adapura hotel. Breakfast is like a ‘Holiday Inn’ functional breakfast. Nothing imaginative nor special. Would you like a cocktail with your dinner? Not possible. We were told that cocktails can’t be ordered at dinner and to go and get them ourself from the bar. When we are in the middle of eating, really? Arriving after 8pm? Need help after 8pm while here? Not possible. The night receptionist tried her best but said she is covering for emergencies but nothing day to day. Need help with your suitcases upon arrival? Not possible - a cart is provided for you to push them yourself. Late checkout? Not possible. Despite asking well in advance and offering to pay for the privilege it was again ‘not possible’. Sophie was great and happy to have a joke but sadly other staff were defensive and unfriendly- just look at the manager responses to other reviews providing constructive criticism. This is marketed as a spa hotel. There is one bottle of ‘shower gel and shampoo’ attached to the wall. The cheapest blue shower gel that you can buy. No fragrance, no conditioner, no hand cream. A spa hotel? Is that a joke? The hotel is penny pinching at every point. Not what you expect from a 4*. Would you like to change your side dish from fries to potatoes? That will be 2 euro. Want to share a main dish and ask for two plates? That will be 2 euro. The hotel doesn’t seem to realise that doing this type of thing leaves a bad taste in well paying guest mouths. No doorman at reception welcoming

Top hotel, close to the slopes. Rooms are very good and many facilities (indoor parking, spacious lockers,pool, wellness, sauna’s,four restaurants, 2 bars) And above all (!) hospitality is key inAdapura. ‘Service with a smile’ is the motto of the whole team, from housekeeping, restaurant & bar staff and frontdesk

We had a really good experience . The hotel itself, is for skiers, ideally located for the ski slopes. The hotel leisure facilities, such as the ski storage,spa and pool, were very good. The glimpses we had of other facilities, such as the children's play area, looked equally good. Guest rooms were in a contemporary style, as were the reception and bar area. The dining rooms reflected the differing styles of food served in each. The standard of food was very good, with a wide range of options. The standard of service was extremely good. The friendly and hepful staff helped make our stay very enjoyable. We can highly recommend the hotel for anyone wanting a skiing vacation with a convenient location and a high standard of accommodation and service.

One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. Free underground parking, a lovely room with a balcony with a lovely view. The receptionist was really nice and helpful. The sauna area was excellent, the best I've ever seen. Good value for money for the summer. Dinner has to be reserved before 10 am, there was no menu or prices. We booked a table for dinner on our last night to find it was only a buffet and then billed €90 for a few slices of pizza and a bottle of water.
