WhyHotel by Placemakr, National Mall

We stayed here to see the cherry blossoms and had an amazing time. The check in process was seamless and the app worked perfectly. Parking ($35/day) was nice so we didnt have to look around once we arrived. 10 min walk from National Mall and 15 from the waterfront. Perfect Location. Road noise from the highway was minimal (we were on the 5th floor) and my 2 kids (2 years and 8 months) slept wonderfully. The apar**ent was beautiful and clean. Full kitchen with dishwasher and a washer/dryer in unit was amazing. This is a perfect place to stay in DC to be walking distance from everything. I highly recommend this place and will definitely return.

We stayed 4 nights with them. The apar**ent itself wasn’t bad. But getting into parking and getting into your room was a real pain in the butt and horrible. The parking is on G street. There is no light up sign when you come in night. And if the guy wasn’t at the front desk, you never know where to park. The guy at the front desk isn’t here for the Hotel BTW, he is here because this is also regular apar**ents. And once you get parked, you need get to your room. We got stuck in the elevator 4 time cause our app wasn’t working and talking to the elevator where you scan in at. It was super frustrating and we were exhausted after 5 hour flight. We even downloaded there app and followed directions, read ahead where to park and what to do... There isn’t any clear labels. And Why Hotel will save a great deal problem if you just leave a key hard at the front deck and map for parking!! I strongly suggest this to the company. You save a great deal of trouble. Also you have to pay to park. There office hours are 8am to 8 pm and if you book with 3rd party company, you don’t know you need parking pass. So if you are coming in late, you ve screwed till next day. Over all i think Why Hotel is on to a good thing. But need tweaking. Your technology is not working, your bed needs off the floor and not from IKEA and using old school key hard would cut the hassle!! Also, if you’re going offer coffee machine, shouldn’t you leave at least 2 pods of coffee at least? Overall this place just annoying.

We stayed here for four days in early April 2022. Very Disappointing. The plugs didn't work in one bedroom, meaning our granddaughter's phone wasn't adequately charged for a trip to the airport. The couch pitched forward so you were slipping off it. When I called the office about it, they said they all do that and they can't be replaced. I needed help with the coffee maker. The lady in the office said she'd come three times and never showed up. Forget opening a window for fresh air. There's a highway right next to the place and an open window means deafening traffic noise. The staff that's supposed to help is totally unhelpful.Their contactless check in means totally confusing check in. It was close to the mall...the only really good feature.

Location was perfect, we were in walking distance to most important sites. The apar**ent was perfect, no changes needed. We could walk to the wharf, and national mall. Several train stops close by. We have no complaints.

Worst customer service, that I have experienced in a hotel. First of all this place shouldn’t be advertised as a hotel because, it is not. It is an Appar**ent building, that rents few rooms out per night which is a great idea IF, they had a front desk to check you in, answer a phone call, let you into your room, or bring you an extra blanket when you badly needed one! NONE of those were possible, or happened during our stay! I had to be on the phone on hold 45 minutes in order to be able to check in into our room, because the app wasn’t working, then no one was there to help us get into the room- and, the icing on cake was - when we asked for an extra blanket by text, somebody very rudely texted me back, to go to another Appar**ent in the building to pick up the blanket… this was 3 hours after. I decided to not do, so…. Instead, I wore my jacket and slept with it on, during the night! Otherwise, the bad experience at the hotel, the neighborhood is great, and seems safe and vibrant but, try to find another place to stay!

Very convenient location. Nice modern apar**ent. The keyless app AeroGuest was awesome. Only thing I would say is to be more specific with the instructions on how to find the parking garage for guest.

Just back from a 4 night's stay in DC and chose the WhyHotel so we could have separate bedrooms and be walking distance to the mall. We were concerned about the noise being close to the highway but this is not like typical hotels with paper thin walls and cheap windows. These apar**ents are amazingly quiet, comfortable and nicely equipped! It was just like being at home but better because we can't escape our neighbor's barking dog at home! We had a barking dog in the room next door that kept us up all night. The staff were extremely accommodating and moved us the next night, comped us for the lost night's sleep and even gave us a little gift bag to apologize! Wish our neighbor at home would do that! We would definitely stay here again the next time we're in DC!
