Gecko Resort

A day spent at Gecko is exactly what thr doctor ordered. The lavish and expansive hotel has various accommodation, pools and restaurants. My favorite by far are the day beds at the beautiful beach. Incredible views, excellent service and food to die for. The beds are overlooking the spectacular Garoda beach with exposed sand banks during low tide. Our waiter, Easy, kept the drinks following, made us laugh and kept us entertained. Will be back again and again.

An unexpected gem at the end of the tarmac! First time to agecko restaurant but let me say it will not be the last! On arrival for our 6pm booking staff were there immediately guiding us to a perfectly appointed table, instant with menus and notes for our drinks. We were left to peruse the wonderful menu then placed our orders of Smoked Sailfish, Tuna tartar and Tuna Carpacchio. Each dish Thoughoughly outrageous and delicious! Our mains were Lobsters, Seafood Platter and prawn pili pili, each dish bringing its own exquisite values to our table. Mojitos consumed and a taxi home...we will be back! Thankyou.

We stayed in a room for 2 people equipped with kettle for tea/coffee, AC, bed with insect nets, security box and a spacious bathroom with a big standing shower. The rooms feel rustic in many ways but are working for what are the basic needs. There is hot water, the lights work without a problem and the AC is modern and works without a problem. The bathroom has soap, shower gel, extra toilet paper and clean towels. Room gets cleaned every day and also insect repellent is applied after cleaning. One should be more careful if the apartment is located on the first floor that in the mornings, when it's cooler, there might be an encounter with monkeys that are passing by. They are not harmful. The food at the restaurants is very good. We had food at the inner restaurant, by the pool. Everything was tasty and well prepared. From pasta to seafood, all was delicious. The breakfast was always very good there as well. We also had food at the bar with the small pool, beach beds and direct access to the beach. There one can order small sandwiches and pizza. We found food to be delicious and filling if we had a bigger than usual breakfast. The pools were all cleaned and well maintained. Every pool has enough beds in the area, enough showers near the pool and the bathrooms near them are spotless. The beach in front of the resort is well kept. The number of people trying to promote their business is kept to a minimum and they are understanding of you give a clear signal that you are not interested. At the resort, one can also book trips around the area. We booked a trip to Marafa to see Hell's Kitchen. Everything went smoothly from pick-up, experience there and drop off. Our driver Nix did an excellent job. The bars are all well equipped and cocktails are generous. The staff is always helpful, kind and approachable. The beach towels can be returned every day or at the end of the day one can request new, fresh ones. The management was understanding with us as we had to grab a taxi in the afternoon. We could check out a bit later and use the resort facilities. Taking into account the location of the resort and the area, the services provided are excellent.

Good check in service with friendly staff. Lovely hotel with comfortable and clean rooms. The shower was amazing. All our requests were fulfilled. Kids had an amazing time and the beach is to die for. Good food available. The rooms should have some toiletries, extra pillows and a warmer duvet.

Absolutely beautiful and charming. Rooms very basic but very clean and the food at the restaurant is very good. I think this beats a hotel hands down looks and feels more traditional. The beach is lovely there and the pool area lovely especially though the evening with all the lights on. The only thing to be aware of is there is no entertainment during the evenings. I loved this place.

Racial profiling of African guests. Very upsetting to the last moment from the reception staff. Go elsewhere if you are black and need to relax.. The staff are not warm at all. Food is average and our dinner order was given last priority. Avoid.

The first thing that strikes you if you go there is that, if you're not Italien, you stand out. This resort caters mostly to weekly chartered packages and is almost 100 percent catering to Italian customers. For small kids, it's a heaven of many activities. We loved that it was on a side of the Watamu beaches where the views are incredible, and the beach is really nice. It was full moon tide week, so right in front of the hotel a sand bar which stretches for 1 kms plus into the ocean was present the whole morning. Just beautiful. Food is actually good and there are two restaurant options on site.

Very bad service, I took me 3 days to book my stay directly with the hotel. Once you arrive, they give you cards for towels that you have to give back every day (I hate it when hotels do that). No hot water in the room, no way to reach the reception as there are no phones in the room (we stayed in the cactus appartement). Every time you call the reception from your mobile, you speak to a different person and you have to re-explain the situation. Came after 30 min and 3 calls. I wouldn’t recommend this place. Expensive restaurant. Overcharged for drinks. For a bit more, you can stay at Medina Palm and that’s a complete different level.

This resort is authentic rear of the main resort. There is access to the beach whichbis good. The lunch and dinner is as per the menu and breakfast is buffet. The cheese cake is excellent. For pasta it's served al-dente hence specify if needed to be had well done. PIZZA was good. Tea & coffee are included free only at breakfast. At tea time NO free tea and coffee is laid out which was unfortunate. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with a queen size double bed and 2 bunk beds which is perfect for a family.
