Abbotsleigh of Whitby

Unfortunately, we didn't make the most of our stay at this impeccable Guest House Hotel. We had arrived early AM for Goth Weekend, Anita advised us our room would be ready in 39 minutes if we wanted to wait, however, we was keen to see the sights and said we would check in later, this was a nice touch of customer service taking on board checking wasn't until later in the day. On finally checking in the room top floor, my Wife was pleasantly surprised how immaculately clean the room was and how fresh it smelt. Everything about the room had class and was quaint at the same time. There was a nich touch with chocolates in the mini fridge amongst other offerings. We have been to many boutique hotels around the UK and this the Abbotsleigh is up there with most at a reasonable cost including breakfast which we didn’t get to enjoy due to leaving early. The location is perfect, if wanting to stay at Whitby I would highly recommend The Abbotsleigh but book early.

We arrived to a very friendly welcome from Anita. The room was well appointed and pleasantly decorated. Rob very kindly took our case up to the room which was on the top floor. Breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day. It is a pleasant stroll down into town despite the strong winds.

Excellent host great location lovely rooms outstanding breakfast very clean if your visiting Whitby I recommend this place very highly PS if your visiting Whitby STOP here you WILL not be disappointed advised this coming from a well travelled man thank you very much mr & mrs G

Well, if Whitby is the jewel of the Yorkshire coast, then Abbotsleigh must surely be the Jewel of Whitby. We arrived to a very friendly welcome from Anita and Rob. Our Starfish room was beautifully and comfortably furnished, with chocolates and tea/coffee making facilities...and fresh milk!! Breakfast was delicious every day. Freshly cooked and set us up for the day. Plenty of places to eat locally for evening meal. Planning on visiting again very soon. We would highly recommend to anyone. Fabulous stay. Cheeky weekend in Whitby never been before. This B&B is a must it's amazing, the hosts were very welcoming. The rooms were superb and the little extras they thought of everything. Breakfast was delicious very filling and cater for everyone.

Another enjoyable stay, try not to stay anywhere else in Whitby unless dates don't work. Friendly hosts, lovely rooms, excellent breakfasts, free parking and pleasant stroll to town, what more could you ask, Thank you Anita and Bob, see you next time

Fabulous B&B, lovely hosts, brilliant location in a quiet area but within walkable distance to Whitby town centre and the beach. We stayed in the top floor Sea Biscuit room which was spotless and well maintained. You could even glimpse the Abbey and sea from the window. Excellent shower wet room. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Mini fridge with complimentary bottles of water, milk and chocolates. Coffee pod machine as well as kettle and choice of teas. Fantastic range of choices for a hot breakfast. We had the full cooked option with the best sausage, bacon and black pudding we’ve ever had, that kept us full until dinner time! Tasty fresh fruit and danish pastries as well as cereals. Beautifully decorated and spotless throughout. Thank you Anita and Robert for a wonderful stay, we will certainly recommend your fabulous B & B Abbotsleigh to all our family and friends.

We stayed for three nights at Abbotsleigh at Whitby and have nothing but the highest praise. Our room (Starfish) was attractive, comfortable, well-equipped and quiet. The breakfasts were exceptional. Robert and Anita Shepherd were gracious and hospitable hosts. Robert gave us some excellent recommendations for restaurants, pubs and excursions. Luckliy, we followed his advice in a number of cases. We enjoyed staying on the West Cliff and the 10-minute walk into town. We recommend Abbotsleigh at Whitby enthusiastically and without reservation.

This superb Victorian b&b is really easy to find on Whitby’s West Cliff, 10 minutes walk from the whale bones, 5 minutes walk from a crazy golf course and the lifts that take you down to the beautiful beach and 15 mins walk to the excellent Pannet Park with its gardens, amazing Art Gallery and Museum of Whitby history. We had the twin room on the ground floor, there was a mini fridge with milk, water and GuyLian choccies. Our room was comfortable, tastefully furnished and decorated and the shower room was excellent. The breakfasts are amazing, there’s a choice of full English for meat eaters, a vegetarian or vegan cooked breakfast (both were great) toast, French pastries, yogurt, fresh fruit, seeds, tea, juice and coffee. Anita is a great cook, Paul is an excellent gardener and they are friendly, helpful and make you feel special. There’s also free street parking with a voucher from the hotel, you’ll be able to park close by with no problem. I’d never stay anywhere else in Whitby, it’s that good!
