I have wanted to stay here a few times when I have visited Wimbourn, however the place is either full or rather over my budget. However this time on looking there was a premium room available, suggestions of such things as a copper bath. On arrival it was easy to park and check in, my room was on the top floor, afraid I was not lucky with the copper bath, but the room looked fine and was quite large. Now I can't complain about the comfort of the bed or the power of the shower, but I am afraid I question how clean the room is. I found the room did have a musty smell coming from the bathroom, I noticed that the mirrors and such things are covered in layers of dust, it was clear that a decent clean had not been done for a very long time. I'm afraid this has put me off and I would not stay again.

Where to start? This room (7) is drop dead gorgeous. Roll top copper bath, HUGE for poster bed, big shower and lovely big room. It’s decorated perfectly with loads of individual features. Spotlessly clean, comfortable bed, what else could I have! I felt like a Princess in this room!

Turned up and expected a reception to checkin. Sign on door asking you to walk around to sister pub to checkin. Stayed in room number 2 which was located on ground floor. Whilst it was clean it smelled musty and needed a good airing. The room was very warm - the radiator was not on. I didn’t want to open the window as I was on the ground floor. I didn’t sleep very well as a shop alarm was going off all night - obviously this no fault of the hotel. Checked in for breakfast- which was 156 steps away from the hotel in the sister pub. Ok in good weather but if it was raining/bad weather you would arrive soaked. All in all not for me - wouldn’t stay again

Fabulous! The room was beautiful, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. Staff went above and beyond to help fix a mistake that was entirely my fault, and could not have been nicer about it. Great place, great food, great location, highly recommended.

Stayed here before and the breakfast was always included. Now it is an extra so when we arrived for breakfast we were told it was £15.95 pp. We went ahead and had the breakfast. The breakfast was no way worth £15.95 each fortunately they only charged us for 1 breakfast instead of 2. The bacon was described as crispy!! I think burnt to a crisp descibes it better. poach eggs over cooked and the toast was more like warm bread. So why would you walk 152 steps to pay £15.95 for that. When you can walk 40 steps and go to Aroma for a full English with tea or coffee for £7.95. or walk 172 steps and go to Wetherspoons for £4.99 plus £1.69 for unlimited tea & coffee. Will be staying elsewhere in the future.

The room at 1777 was quirky and fun - dark wood panelling like a ship's cabin, and very comfortable beds. Sian at Reception was lovely: really welcoming and helpful. Breakfast at the Olive Branch (just a step away) was very good, with an excellent choice. The staff were all very friendly and Scott especially was so helpful. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food, and we'll definitely be booking in at 1777 next time we are in the area.

Booked a one night stay for myself, wife,son and daughter in law we were given room no1, with our son and daughter in law in room no9 , our room was on the ground floor and opened onto the access road/pathway to the office and car park it's also virtually under the bridge that connects the two buildings this makes the room very dark, unfortunately the lighting in the room is quite poor and not really suitable we did find this an issue, the bed was very comfortable and there was usual tea and coffee facilities which was average, We did have an issue which we only realised when we got home that our booking was for superior rooms we were given standard rooms still charged the same price?. To be fair the rooms were adequate for one night but as they were quite small any longer and it might have felt uncomfortable, it was value for money and the hotel staff were very friendly.
