Pros: walking distance to botanical gardens, opera house, circular quay, shopping and restaurants. Breakfast included - simple but yummy (Toast, eggs, sausages, cereal, cows and soy milk, yoghurt, fruit, coffee)
Cons: reception is only open from 9am to 5pm so if you need any assistance you have to ring the manager who to be honest, is a bit hostile and seems to get annoyed if you ring him after hours.
I also paid for a family room with a deck but got given a room without a deck. When I questioned the manager he said he actually had upgraded us to a better/newer room without a deck (meaning I had gotten a better deal despite not getting a varanda room) but to be fair, our room did not look new, it looked exactly the same as the room next door WITH a varanda, that we saw open while the housekeepers were cleaning. So I basically feel a bit ripped off by the hotel.
Also, when reserving this hotel with ******* the booking stated “reserve now, pay at the property” however a week before our arrival I got a AU$500 deposit.
When I rang to check will I was being charged before my arrival, the manager said it was because it was a busy time in Sydney (during Taylor Swift concert) and they need a deposit to secure the booking. It was ok with us because we already had the money saved for accommodation, but it’s unfair that the hotel stated one thing on ******* and didn’t honour it when time came.
